Detail King Educational Seminar

Superior Shine

Anybody ever attend? I have been in business for awhile but I want to soak up as much as I can. I am interested in the marketing portion.

yeah ive been. it ok but if you know all the ends and outs on cleaning a vehicle its a waste. far as learning marketing strategies they give you some good advice.

Hey Joe

Check to see if you have any Carwash Trade shows coming up in your area . We have one in Oct they offer quite a few different seminars that aren't very expensive. ICA has some things on their web site.

Do they give any hands on training with the rotary?

If so , who's car do they use to demonstrate?

I ask because these seminars are always held right down the road from where I live.

Might be worth checking out if I can get some practical experience.

Room and travel won't be a problem.

Las Vegas in November would be nice considering the snow in Pittsburgh is up to my crud-hole by then.

Unfortunately, it's just not in the budget right now....(wedding , new house , honeymoon---you know , all those crazy expenses that make you wish you had stayed single and used the money to go to Vegas...or something).

Thanks for the heads up , though , S.S. --it's something to keep in mind for the future.

hey gusbubba they give you hands on training on the vehicles they service but you only get 1 day to et some tips afterwards you have to keep practicing. they didnt really give me that much info that i didnt already have

A friend who I used to work for went to the Pittsburgh seminar (from Boston) with his new business partner and another employee in April. The training was good for his partner and employee because neither of them had even 1/10 the experience he does, but he said that he didn't learn too much from it and in fact criticized some of the work (I guess they demonstrated rotary buffing on a black Escalade and when they were "done" it still had swirls all over it - when asked about it, they said that they were going to finish buffing it later or something). He did, however, say that some of the marketing tips were good and that they discovered some new products they liked (DetailKing STS-2000 sealant, marketed as a different product in other places I later learned). But, it is largely focused on mobile detailing I think. Hope that helps.

I have attened many Detail King seminars and I beleive the money is well worth it. As far as the Escalade was concerned, that was the owners Escalade and it was finished up later. They were demostating on that vehicle wetsanding/holograming with the rotary, but it was cleaned up by Rob and Jason. Marketing is top notch as well, i was very happy with my expericnes at Detail King.

Thanks for the info.

It's something I've been wondering about for awhile.

Just attended the seminar. Hmmmm.....Marketing, I can say the money is worth it. Actual demo? Hmmmmm.......not that impressed. The trainers were splattering chemicals all over but overall I will give it a 8 out of 10 for presentation and a 7 out of 10 for effectivity. ARE THEIR PRODUCTS ANY GOOD?

some of their products are great, while some are crap. I love and I cant empahazie this enouhg Pink stuff interior cleaner, final inspect, clay, green stuff, blue tire, non silicone dresssing, citrus degreaser, special force is one of the best prodcuts i have ever used, BUG OFF, BEST BUG OFF IN THE MARKET I CAN SAY THAT I TRIED THEM ALL!

All i can say is still away from there polishes the one step and foam pad glaze. They both have many fillers and no matter what the one step will haze after it rains on dark colored cars. I have tried this product with a rotary at all different speeds/pads and same results everytime. Their STS2000 paint sealant has to be the best on the market I have ever used. :woot2: It leaves a super long lasting finish, about 9-12 months and really works! any questions feel free to PM me or visit my website www.richsmad.com for my phone number and more info

I am sure that they have great products, but how come its not talked about that much? Under rated? or Under marketed?

im not really sure at all, i think people tend to focus more on products that have to do with paint work. People are usually impressed with the shine/depth/swirl removal capacity etc. I have tried all there polishes and cutters and Im not satisified one bit. I do like their quick and easy because it is one of the best tar removers i have ever used, and doesnt strip wax. All their products are my go to products for dressings, degreasers, interior cleaners, NEW CAR SCENT IS THE BEST SCENT out their hands down. it cost 35 dollars a gallon and i use it in every car even if the customer said no scent, becasue it doesnt smell like a scent. They get in and they say it smells so clean and fresh in here, very hard to explain. The first thing That happens when any customer open the door and I hear it EVERY SINGLE TIME, "WOW", "OMG", JEEZ" it smells like new, it smells great,it smells fresh you get the idea. Their products are distributed by a company known as ALfreds distributing but their paint stuff is not done at that same place. I have been detailing for many many years and have tried hundreds of products, and to say the least the Detail Kings line is affordable, fast working, sun friendly and they do have a great stafff of salespeople as well. Give their variety pack a try and I guarentee you, you will not be disappointed.

My favorite product of all has to be the pink stuff interior cleaner. I have used it on every type of vehicle, ON EVERYTHING ON THE INSIDE. Leather, carpet, dash boards, even door jams and never had a problem. It is the product I cant be without and some how it cuts the dirt so quickly without stripping the surface and again is quite cheap and can be diluted 50/50 for those lighter cleanups.

IN no way do i get discounts from them, or recieve any kind of specials for promoting their products. I just figure why not tell others about products that I have used with success in helping make www.richsmad.com a full time successful detailing business in less than one year, with making my prices 30 percent or higher than the competition and still getting new customers all the time.

Their special force is another one of my favorite products. It is a very light degreaser which I use on most washes that are very dirty and details. I acutally use it on the lower panels because it will not strip the wax, but is gentle enough on all paint with a little bite to get rid of some of that caked dirt, grease, tar etc with a yellow block sponge working it while wet during my wash routine. Sometimes I also mix some into my wash bucket, and that will get the job done to!

Detail King I think pertains to be alot bigger than many people think, and therefore they expect more. while Detail King is actually small and most of their customers are gotten through the weekend training seminar, I believe perparing for this, Nick running his accounts with dealersips and much more, time is limited at Detail King especially since the staff on hand, is really only a handful.

AJ

Im sorry I didn't reread this thread until it showed up again today . The show was last week in AC . It's usually the 3 week in Oct at the Borgota in AC . Mobile Tech Expo is coming up in Jan 2006 , do you plan on going ?

Hey Joe,

I went to their 2 day seminar in laguna beach. definitly save your money. I was very dissappointed after leaving there sunday. There was no hands on, all you did was look at slides. Their marketing was decent. As far as I was concerned it was more them marketing thier business to us.

I went to rightlokk.com 2 day seminar in San Diego and that one has some hands on. I would suggest that one.

Hope this helps.

( I see you driving up the 605 about once every 2 weeks while I'm

driving for my full time job as a delivery driver, I allways think that someday I'll be able to detail full time some day!)

Thanks for the info. I met two people last Saturday that say almost exactly what you said.

You must see me north bond just north of the 10.
