detail gone wrong or anal client?

the only reason i'm second guessing is because i never heard of such a problem coming after 6 weeks, and as i said before, i'm not a professional detailer, so there are probably millions of things that i have not seen and can still learn about...i mean if i had messed something up it should have been aparent after a day, or a week, but a month and a half?

If its nothing you did wrong, tell him this, trust me....

"Sir, when I first detailed your car, what I did was remove years of improper care. I polished the paint and gave you a clean slate. The question is then, why did I need to give you a clean slate..."

Let him ponder for a second...

"Because improper care reaks havok on your cares finish. If you shell out the money to have it detailed but then don't keep up with it, it will obviously resort back to that intial state and need to be detailed. Now I don't want this to happen, and you don't want to this happen so I would be happy to go over some proper techniques you can use to keep your car looking amazing.

I also offer a matience package that will extend the length you need between major detailing tremendously and keep your care looking its best. Its up to you..."

Be exact, put it in his face politely, don't fumble your words, and trust you are right. If you get nervous or back off of what you say he will quickly loose confidence in your diagnosis.

That is new contamination that he has picked up somewhere. I've seen this kind of thing from people who park in a parking garage and stuff drips off the celing onto the hood.

+1 You beat me to it. They usually look like oil spot flowering from underneath.

it was absolutely nothing...dude is lame....he's been wiping it all the time with the same dirty unwashed mf towel, really didn't need a polish at all, just a nice wash, a good dry, some xmt glaze on the hood roof and trunk and that was that....he's just totally ocd....notices things that i would struggle to see and i'm kinda anal myself...paid me 40 bux and that was that....thanks for all the help...autopia has become my new best friend...time to spend that 40 bux on some menzerna...thanks again

the only thing you couldve really missed along the lines of hazing (unless of course you just didn't polish a spot on accident) is possible wax rehazing. he needs to know that you did a lot more work than 100 dollars worth and if he is inquiring about some sort of warranty you need to be properly compensated.

I would wash it and then look at it in direct sunlight. I am guessing its hazing, which you might be responsible for. Look and see if it goes all the way up to the edges, or if there is a gap. If there is a gap, it is either you or the guy before you, cuz it is hard to finish all the way to the edges. FWIW-I have done this on my own car, and it did not show up right away.
