Hi everyone. I just found this forum today....and by a quick browse, I can tell i'm gonna love it. Soooo....my question is...

I have a black car. I recently purchased these products:

Poorboys SSR2.5

poorboys SSR1

Clearkote red moose machine glaze

poorboys ex with carnuba

NB paste wax

Using these products....in that order (using the SSR 1 as my polish) will i see great results...or should I purchase another polish. I think this combo will be fine, but wanted to get some other opionions. BTW I'm using a PC.

Ohh..one last question. Is the opti seal worth it, or am i good with what i have?

Thanks alot!!

I think the opti-seal will be longer lasting than what you have there. I like it a lot and you can use it on trim etc so the bugs don't stick. Use the NB wait a day for it to cure, the opti seal it after a wash.

I used similar stuff to you on a black car and I'm pretty new to the PC. I used the Pinnacle XMT #s 1 and 3 polishes, Poorboy's EX and Natty's Blue. I would think you'd be fine on polishes. Also, the Poorboy's EX and NB are easy to use and gave nice results. I'm just not sure if the glaze will affect durability since the EX is part sealant. Someone else can elaborate on that one.

Like mentioned above, wait 24hr to apply the NB over the EX.

I wasn't aware that I'd need to let the ex cure for 24 before the NB. hmm...well good thing monday is a holiday. :-)

Yeah, I had emailed Steve at Poorboy's to clarify that one. He said 24 hours for max durability.

Thanks. This will be my first time using the PC...I'm exited, but kind of worried at the same time about using the ssr2.5, but I have alot of spider web scrathes so it's gotta be done. Im sure this i'll learn tons from this forum, as i have from others. Thanks again.

No, haven't seen that before, but will check it out when i have some more time. thanks.

"Spider webbing?! Yikes! That may be a bit much to expect a PC with SSR 2.5 to handle."

I guess it's what i'd call spider webbing...but it's just microfines scrathes from washing is all that IMO ressemble a spider web...nothing 2 serious. black is such a hard color to keep in tip top shape.

Ok....more questions!! I washed and claybared yesterday. This morning I went out to pick up the PC for the first time. I went with the SSR1 before trying the SSR2.5. After using both and the SSR1 as my polish afterwards....it looks worse than when i started. What am I doing wrong. I'm using slow passes....speed 3-4 to work it in a little then cranking it up to 5-6 for correction. I'm using all the products listed in the beginnning of this thread. PLEASE, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

What do you mean by worse? Does the paint look hazy or cloudy? Did you allow the polish to break down properly?

Here is an example of hazing on the right (this is severe but you get the idea):

hazing_sidebyside.jpg

If that is it then you aren't working the polish in correctly...Try this:

Use a 1'x1' section - apply a dime size amount to the pad - spread on paint before starting the PC

Using little pressure and speed 4.5 - 5 work the polish in.

Under direct lighting - At each change in the polish remove a section and see how the paint looks.

Repeat at each change until very little or no hazing is present (this will vary depending on the abrasiveness of the polish).

The reason for speed 4.5-5 and little pressure is, it goes through the stages slower so you can determine when it's broken down without under or over working the polish. Now that you know what it looks like when it's broken down you can increase the speed, pressure, etc. to get the job done.

Good luck!
