Definition of Polish?

Is a Polish something abrasive that removes some paint or clear coat to make it shine, or is it something that fills in imperfections with oils and nutrients for your cars paint?



The first definition sounds like the definition of a paint cleaner to me



the second definition is what Meguiars calls a polish. After checking online Ive seen both definitions. So what really is a polish?

Given the industry (each company has their own definition) uses the word to apply to anything from abrasive products, non-abrasive paint cleaners, non abrasive gloss enhancing products, and also waxes and waxes and sealants, it will be a discussion that yields no end result since the industry will not change.
 
I was confuse too. I am now reading carefully the product description and manufacturer's instruction. If I am still not sure, I google the product and if I still cannot find clarification, I ask. :D
