Defect city STI with only ~85 microns = hard work

I enjoy my WRX, it is a good driver's car. Having said that, the paint is a disappointment. You can keep it looking nice, but don't even dream of running without a clear bra!! With very little mileage, I noticed zillions of tiny chips on the front of the hood (and no, I was not driving on dirt roads or following other cars closely). The thin nature of the paint was apparent by looking at the chips - there seemed to be next-to-zero thickness to the paint. The sheet metal is thin on all the exterior panels as well (...light weight...) so then can pick up dings fast. These are very typical observations from Subie owners.

Knowing that makes this particular detail all-the-more impessive!

Very nice result from what you had to work with!

Your polishing even made the indicator light change color! ;)

BTW, I couldn't help notice that one of you used wheel brightener without gloves, might wanna read a bit about it, as it contains Ammonium Bifluoride which is some nasty stuff. There was the following thread on MOL about it:

AMMONIUM BIFLUORIDE in Wheel Brightner: Scary stuff!!!! Need advice

Lol, yep, the owner changed the covers midway through the detail! As for the Wheel Brightener, yes, I was aware of the contents, but I've yet to ever get any on me when applying from the proper Megs bottles. That said, I think we will start to use gloves just in case - residual effects are not good due to being unpredictable, so thanks for getting me thinking! :bigups
