OKay, I'm about to take the plunge with the Zaino system (Z5/Z2), probably with Zfx and some Z6 too.

From the Zaino Bros website, I can clearly see that they are big fans of cotton bath towels and applicators.. but I'm wondering if that is really the best thing to use?

Currently, I have:

1 fullsize cotton bath towel that is super soft

6 YoSteve MF towels

3 round pads that have one side of foam other side with Terry cloth.

Just wondering what approach I should be taking here given the above supplies and I want to apply Zfx'd 2/Z5 with Z6.

I prefer the foam pads for application (even better when the foam pad is on my PC). It seems a little easier to get the coats thin with foam. I usually use a cotton towel for removal, with a clean MF to do any necessary final removal. Lately I have been using only MF with Z6, but cotton works well, too. The only thing with cotton and Z6 is that the full size bath towel is a bit cumbersome. A good quality cotton hand size toweel is much easier to work with.

Good luck. Do it right and you will love the Z.

What you have will work...

Foam seems to be easier to apply it thin and removeing with either Cotton or MF works for most.

For applying either Z2 or Z5 I use cotton covered foam applicators. For removing the polish I like the large cotton towels...Zaino requires hardly any pressure to remove it. The weight of the towel is usually sufficient to remove it.

For Z6ing I use plush Microfiber Towels.

Cotton for everything.

The cotton terry apps allow me to get unbelievably thin layers.

Charismas for buffing require no effort.

Charismas for QDing allow me to spread the Z-6 across the entire panel easier. MF's work well too, but they are so absorbant that most of the QD has been soaked up before I can spread it properly.

I asked the same thing before I bought my Zaino set as I already had 4 MF applicator pads and 13 MF towels. The only thing that I didn't have was Viking HD foam applicator pad.

Here's my Zaino apply/remove plan which should take place in a few weeks:

Apply ZFX/Z5 = Viking foam pad

Remove ZFX/Z5 = MF towel(s)

Z6 = MF applicator pad

Oliver use MF towels with Z6 since it is a QD...I use two one wet with QD and the other dry to buff to a shine!

Currently my favorites are Viking foam pads for application, and Charisma's for removal. I use MF for QD'ing, and I always get it slightly damp first by spritzing it with a few sprays of distilled water until it is supple. YoSteve towels are great. The Zaino applicators are fine, also. Really it's a matter of personal preference so feel free to experiment a little.

After you remove the Z with a cotton towel, buff it with an ultra-suede MF for a super fantastic wonder-glow. Just make sure that your car is absolutely dust free (it should be at that point)... And if you have any smears, this technique clobbers them.

CMA has a new towel that I am going to try for this soon.

The Max, Microfiber Finishing Cloth

I like to let the Z2 or Z5 cure for a few hours before I use Z6. If you use Zfx you can go with the Z6 right away, from what I understand (haven't used it yet but plan too this spring).

Will do. Thanks for the tip! :up

Michael Stoops will join us in our chatroom on Tuesday, December 21st, in order to answer questions about Meguiar's 2011 products, as well as their current offerings. Michael is also a very cool, down to Earth, and incredibly knowledgeable guy, so if you are very lucky.... He might let you call him Mike.
I know I'll be there (wouldn't miss this one at all!).

Candy Cane

LOL! Mike has no idea what he's in for! I think Dasher better keep it PG-13! :D

I'll be there for sure!!! Do you know if he's going to answer questions about the micro fiber system

I hope he does talk about the new system.
