dealer removed wax with rotary!! PICS

GOT PREP?
I got a call the other day from a guy that wanted to give a detail to his girlfriend as a birthday gift. What a great idea I thought. The girl had taken delivery of the car on a cloudy day and had not seen the swirl marks that the dealer had created by REMOVING WAX WITH A WOOL PAD ON THE ROTARY!!!!!!! :eek

When she saw the damage and took it back to the dealership they told her that there was nothing that they could do. They could send it back through their detail dept(which see wisely refused), but it would end up the same way. "That's just the way clear coats look nowadays."

What I really hate is the fact that she drove around for over a year before finding someone to fix it. Just really makes me mad.

Sorry about the pics, today was not the best day in the world for taking B/A's, but hopefully you can get an idea. If you can't, just go and put some wax on your car by hand, break out the rotary and a wool pad and crank it up to 3300 rpm's and remove the wax. :bigscream

I used DACP for the first pass, then speed glaze, then #81, then LS. everything except for the LS was applied with the PC and a polishing pad.

Before.

After, I am sorry about the spots on the lens, I didn't know that they were there.

I know I know black car in the shade on the internet, but I swear it looked really good. Sorry again about the lack of direct sun.

BTW, tires were dressed with Eo protectant lotion that I got at Big Lots. Very nice product. The windows were cleaned with S&W and a velvet smooth glass towel.

Nice looking work :bigups She should go back to that dealer and show them what the clearcoat is supposed to look like . These dealers think everyone is stupid.

What kinda paint is that? Looks great! Except it has blue/black sorta confusing but it turned out great. And for a second I thought we found a good dealer :lol

Looks good. I am sure the RSX was worse than the pictures show.

Rollman,
I am sure there is a few good dealer detailers out there. A few members here are dealer detailers. I guess it comes down to pride in ones work and proper training.

Eric

Thanks guys!!

Woob, the paint I believe is nighthawk black pearl. Most of Honda's blacks have some sort of colored pearl in them. THe nighthawk black has blue pearl in, there is a flamenco black pearl that has a silver pearl, and there is one other that I cannot remember the name of that has gold pearl in it. If you look at the thread that 00ranger posted the other day called "extreme makeover" you will see a great picture of the gold flake.

EBP - I think that fellow got an even better birthday present for her than he ever imagined possible. Great job!!! :bigups

Looks Awesome!!!!

You'd think with what people are paying for Acura's, that thier "Detail Department" would know what they are doing, but they don't. One time when my dad had a black Legend Coupe he had it serviced and told them not to wash it, they did anyway and it looked like crap with spots everywhere. After a lot of yelling on my dad's part they offered him a free detail. I had to go over it again because they didn't know what they were doing at all.

Nice job :bigups
It's nice that she realized that there somesomething wrong and brought it back, but crummy to say that there was nothing that could be done :angry
She should take it back now and say kiss my :moon: this is what it's supposed to look like

Thanks guys/gals!!! :)

tdekany, it took about 4 hours and most of that was on the paint. The interior was cleaned , but not "detailed." We also talked quite a bit because it was the first time that we had met. I also took time to tell her how they messed up the paint and how to wash/dry the car now that it is fixed.

General Lee, I used the EO protectant lotion. I agree with oyu, it gives a very nice on look tires. These tires did require a second application, but I wiped them afterwards with a terry cloth towel.
