Dealer Decal

How do I remove the dealer sticker/tag that is on my truck? I was told a heat gun would work, but do not have access to one. I tried a hairdryer, as suggested by other forums, to no avail. Any kind of cleaner or something that will break down the adhesive and make it easier to remove? I'd be worried to use anything to strong, because I would hate to cause any sort of paint damage. Any kind of suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance,

It could be paint. I know some dealerships have a stencil or something that they use. If a hairdryer didn't work then you may have a nice painted on dealer advertisment on your car. What have you tried using to scrape it off with? After you heat it up with a hairdryer for a few minutes you should be able to get something happening. You may need to try a razor blade if a plastic scraper isn't working. How long has it been on the car? Is it something you could take to the dealer and ask about having it removed?

Stoner's Bug & Tar remover will take it right off, then you can just buff out everything else.

I use this all the time to remove bumper stickers and dealer stickers. It is safe for clear coats as well.

The real name to the product is called "tarminator"

It's been on the truck for over a year. Yup, finally decided to just get rid of it and not worry about my parents. They wont even notice. It's a stick on dealer badge. It appears to be double-sided tape or something. I dunno. I haven't tried a razor blade or anything because I'm afraid of scratching the paint. Goo Gone didn't work either, even when used in conjunction with the hairdryer. I heard somewhere that WD-40 works on removing adhesives, but I have yet to test it out. Any more suggestions? I think I'll call the dealer and see if they'd remove it. Very good idea.

Ahhhh... Its one of those badges. That isn't a dealer decal. That is a dealer badge. Decals are like stickers versus that plastic thing you have. Have you tried flossing it off? If you get some fishing line under it you can saw it off. Get some heat on it from a hair dryer and saw and pull away. Then use whatever tar remover you have access to to get the adhesive stuff off. That double stick tape stuff is a bugger. Pretty strong. You can get it off without too much trouble. See if the dealer will remove it first and if they won't then try flossing it off. :bigups

Your sig indicates you are near Baltimore? I have a heat gun, and live near Columbia. Could meet up and take that puppy right off with it.. :D

Thanks for the help. I think the debadging article will help. I read it and it makes sense. the badge isn't bad. it's just sort of annoying and i wish it wasn't there. ya know?
