Dead Bird in Dryer

Ok the last two loads I did in the dryer smell really bad so I decided to take it apart and see where the smell was coming from. There was a dead bird right where the hose meets the dryer. How can I sanitize/ deodorize the dryer. I will be buying new ducting and connectors for where he was dead at. They were removed with gloves and immediately thrown away.

Put a load with two or 3 towels and about 10 heavy scented dryer sheets. Then put it on the highest heat setting and the longest time possible.... should get rid of it. Worked for me.

Oh wow--is this a common problem?

I worked in housing service for the USAF when my wife was in (Was on call tech for 1800 units.) we had birds and birds nests in dryer vents once or twice a week.

Sounds like the stimulus package should include some money for vent screens, flappers, or louvers for the USAF...should save a lot of maint. time

PS To the OP: When in doubt use some of that enzyme odor-killer, like you would do in a car.
