dash detailing

You might consider using a product called Wicked Products Vinyl Guard.

It is a non-greasy rejuvinator / protectant that brings back the original life to a dash and all plastic/vinyl/leather surfaces.

It is available at wickedproducts.ca

Fk1 108, I use it for everything. Outstanding on tires and wells, the only protectant that touches my dash. $36/gallon. Also great on trim, I apply it to trim before the wash, let it dry, then wash. That way theres no chance of running.

1Z Cockpit isnt really much of a protectant. Cockpit is an Outstanding cleaner for light duty work, but 1Z tiefenfleger(sp) is better suited to protect your dash.

Why do you say 1Z Cockpit Premium isnt much of a protectant?

This made me realize, anything I decide on would have to be ordered, it's friggin cold here so I'm afraid of the product freezing en route. :(

I have the same weather limit on shipping this time fo year. the good news is I've seen 303 protectant at our local Schucks autosupply. I have been real happy with the 303 for the year I've been using it. Great protection, nice finish and no bad smell. Good luck.

Bought some 303 from Cabela's and some PBNL from Autogeek.

303 - doesn't smell good but, can't smell it after it's applied. Not a flat finish but not 'shiny'. Leaves a slick finish.

PBNL - the scent is a combination of edible and cheap used car but the smell doesn't last much past application. The bottle says that it doesn't leave a slick finish but it does so, don't use it on seats. I tried it out on a barstool's vinyl cushion and my son slid off (true).

slightly more gloss than the 303 but also livens up the vinyl more too.

I'd rate them each an 8+ for what I wanted.

I've been through several large amounts of 303 protectant and have never noticed any smell.. in fact it is ALMOST odorless.

I have read accounts of 303 freezing due to clod temps and then when it thawed it smelled foul....

I know I'm diggin up an old thread here, but had some info to add.

I just bought some 303 the other day to use in my G37 - I did the whole interior in it (not too thick, just enough to wipe everything down for protection). While I was putting it on, I thought it smelled quite gamey and nasty, kind of like ammonia or something, but thought nothing of it - I was outside with both doors open and it was a bit windy, so it wasn't strong enough to make me think something was up.

Fast forward to the next day. Car was sitting outside during work in the sun, and when I got in it for lunch...HOLY CRAP it smelled like some fat guy rubbed his sweaty armpits and nether regions all over my car interior. It was horrendous.

I'm not exaggerating - a buddy hopped in for a ride and I visibly saw him crinkle his nose. I asked him how bad it was and he admitted it was pretty bad. :wall

So, long story short: I don't know why or when or how come, and I know I'm just one data point, but sometimes 303 can smell in an exceptionally foul manner. Honestly, to me it reminds me of a mix of heavy body odor and elk's piss (which I can smell...long story). So, check your bottle before you buy if you can, or before you use it. I'm going to order something else online and return this bottle to NAPA. :bat

Hope this helps someone....

JonnyOzero3: I had the same experience with 303. Apparently, when it freezes/thaws it ruins the product and produces the lovely smell. 303 is sending me a new bottle. I quickly went over my interior again with OPP, which smells good.

Would anyone here recommend the aforementioned interior products as a tire dressing? 303? FK108? etc.

I never use tire dressing as my fiancee doesn't like the slick greasy shiny look.

303 will make your tires look like they were when you bought them new.

X2 I do not like the greasy, shiny tire look either. I've been using both PB's natural look and 303 on tires. 303 looks better but PBNL lasts longer.

I have heard great things about 303, from local friends.

I have had exceptional luck with the Ultima interior product. No plans to change to anything else. Great durability, nice look, not very shiny, and goes a long way. However the smell is a bit strong at times. Very leathery. Air it out well!!
