Damaged Leather!

Well, my oldest child put a sticker (with very strong adhesive) on the back seat of our Infiniti I30. When my wife tried to take it off (she didn't ask me how first!), the adhesive took some of the leather with it!!!!! Now there is a small, 1/2 inch X 1/2 inch, area without leather - just the material under the leather (some sort of backing). I have thought about bidding on one of those leather repair kits on ebay (about $10+).

Is it worth even trying?

I figured it must be better than just leaving it. It's definitiely better than spending hundreds on getting the leather redone.

Does anyone have experience with this kit?

Leather Kit on ebay

:shocked :shocked Sorry to hear, man, you must be pissed:mad: I personally don't bother with repair kits, b/c you'll realize it's just better to have it reupholstered.;) Definitely a big no no to your kid:nono , but hey, he's just a kid:rolleyes:

Yeah, I was actually more upset with my wife trying to take it off before asking me what she should use. Had she or I used a gentle solvent, it would have probably just come off with a little time and effort. Instead she just RIPPED it off! Oh well. My daughter shouldn't have put the sticker there to begin with, but my wife knows better!;)

No one else with tips on how to use this stuff?

With two daughters 4 yrs old and 1 1/2 years old, I have many more years of damage left on this leather. So, I don't won't to re-do it just yet.

make sure the kid knows what they did was wrong.

Then be cool about it. If you blow up in their face they will remember it and think you will alwyas do it.

I flipped a golfcart once going down a steep hill. Nearly snapped both my leg and my brothers leg. My dad (who was infront of us) was cool about it. Just let me know i was a dumb!!! for doing that.

Wow Tex thats bad. Maybe one of these 2 places can help you. They both deal strictly with leather, if anybody would know your options I think these may be it. www.leatherique.com They specialize in restoring old leather Rolls Royce interiors. www.colorplus.com can make any color dye you need plus they have some type of filler material to fix spots like you have now. Contact these people and see what you can do. Hope this helps.:(

I've used Colorplus in the past as an auto appraiser. I figured these kits were close to what they used. I wanted to try it myself, but I think I'll go ahead and call colorplus. With 7 colors in the kit, I can't imagine it'd be easy to match the color in my car.

I just figured that $10 is cheaper than the $$$ for colorplus. But, Colorplus would still be a whole lot cheaper than reupholstering the entire back seat!

Thanks for all the advice.
