DACP no more?!? what the!?!

6cyl's_of_fury

its naturally curly......
After humming and harring for some time now, I went to the Meguiars distribution / sales warehouse here in Sydney to pick up some DACP ( on the thought that it may be a touch more aggressive than my menzerna IP ). I looked around the small display stand they had up and couldnt find it, so I asked for the tech to come and help me out.

Tech: "Nope, we dont stock it anymore, its a discontinued product. They are no longer making it in the US and we havent seen it here for the best part of 6 - 7 months"

Me: "You sure mate? Why would they discontinue such a great product?"

Tech: *shrugs shoulders and stares blankly* "What about speed glaze instead?"

Me: "Nah, I want something a touch more aggressive than that"

Tech: "Ah ok, we have been selling heaps of this stuff in place of DACP, Quick Detailer ( #66 ), what about that?"

Now my research has shown that #66 is a cleaner wax, not exactly what I was chasing obviously.

Mike, can you let me know what the case is, as I dont think that the product will be discontinued, or am I wrong? Is that in Australia only? Give me guidance please! :xyxthumbs

I'm not Mike, but, DACP is certainly still available in the US!

Speed Glaze is a fine replacement/alternative. It breaks down a little faster...

#83 DACP is definitely not being discontinued.

It could be that the Australia distributor has decided not to stock it? I'll try to find out.

Cheers Mike.

I have hunted high and low and have found a 32oz container of DACP in Australia ( obviously some old stock ) for US$43 - yikes!

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.......

Not sure on what shipping would be, but I've seen people in other areas where pricing is extremely high have people buy something and then ship it (Hawaii comes to mind as being extremely high-priced). It works out cheaper. I bought my DACP directly from Megs, as the body shop nearby didn't stock it.

On the note of price gouging... the above body shop tried to sell me MPPC (#97) for $28 for the little bottle. I bought it with #16 and the total was like $45. I thought "Geez, that #16 is expensive." Then I looked at the receipt and said "Heck NO" and returned it. The kid behind the counter insisted that was list price from Meguiars. I laughed and told him it was around $10. He told me I was wrong and that I should buy it from Meguiars then. So they just lost all my business.
