Dacp didn't remove swirls

maybe it's me, but i polished my gf's red ford focus today. i started w/ 1z paint polish as i am just starting to test this stuff out. i started w/ a yellow pad and spread the polish on speed 3 and buff till dry on speed 6. it removed some swirls but left some to be taken care of.

so i bust out my trusty DACP, started w/ that and a yellow pad and same 3, 6 speed method. stuff didn't touch the swirls. they weren't bad swirls as you had to catch the right light to see them. but still what gives?? shouldn't dacp at least clear up all of the spider swirling on a car's finish?? i'm stumped.

i know i know. i need pics. sorry.

If DACP didn't touch the swirls on the 6.0 setting with a foam polishing pad, then I would think that your paint is harder than what the diminishing abrasives in DACP are able to efffectively remove?

Another factor could be how much pressure you applied and how long you buffed?

If 1Z was working in one section, and DACP wasn't working in a side-by-side section, then it could be that the 1Z is more aggressive?

Mike

JCrawford- Whose yellow pad were you using (i.e., was it a cutting or a polishing pad)?

BTW, the 1Z PP isn't all that aggressive, in my experience. As *I* read your post, the PP removed some marring, but the DACP did NOT remove the serious marring that was left (after the PP). If this is correct, then a) the PP and DACP are pretty similar in strenght (my guess) and b) yeah, you need something a little stronger. I usually need something stronger than PP unless I'm using the rotary, and even then I often do.

As you're familiar with the DACP, I assume you're working it long enough. Gee, wonder if Ford clear is heading towards "Audi-hardness".

Accumulator- i was completely stumped after this, and i'm starting to believe the ford as hard as audi theory. the pad i used was a lake country 7.5" yellow cutting pad. i worked it until dry, no need to buff after i was done. and the marring wasn't induced by PP, it was just there. i'm stumped, im still playing w/ PP but DACP always gave me swirl free finish under lights, even on my black truck. maybe this is an autopian horror movie--attack of the super swirls. :shocked

I had very good luck with DACP and FOLDED TERRY CLOTH when PC just wasn't getting it done in a few spots. Very effective but more work. (Made me a true believer that Scottwax gets GREAT results by his hand methods.):idea It worked for me.
