DACP+#82 by hand

Alright I'm gonna try and use DACP and #82 by hand then move to VM+EXP. Would Meguiars hand polish be better choice for followup after DACP, I've seen #81 mentioned but can't seem to find it on Meguiars site:confused: . Any suggestions to this combo? Now I see Scottwax usually recommends terry towels with DACP but what about some MF's folded in 1/8ths would a softer,denser weave be ideal? Thanks
 
I think the use of a cotton cloth for hand application of DACP is to give it a little more cut, help even out the hand pressure, and help build up the necessary heat to break down the abrasives in what is primarily meant as a machine product.



I went with the suggestion and it seemed to work well. Obviously, using a MF cloth won't hurt anything, but it may not give the best results the easiest.



IMHO, it's hard to justify second guessing Scottwax's advice on detailing by hand.
 
After DACP, I would go straight to VM since it's a glaze and has some cleaners to remove any haze.



VM is very versatile, EASY to use and provides awesome results leaving a great finish to top with.



Stick with terry towels with DACP because of the "bite" it has. It will help the diminishing abrasives work.
 
Before I learned how to properly use machines for paint correction, I did everything by hand. I was younger then as well, anyway.... I always used folded royal velvets (cut off edges and sewn with 100% cotton thread) and rubbed in back and forth motions with what I would call moderate pressure. It worked for me for years. I always follwed with #7, and topped with #26 or whatever I was using at the time.



By the time MF came around, I had a PC so I have never tried DACP with it.



This was all before the internet really came about and I was using what I could buy locally. I was always pleased with the results as were the cutomers.
 
I was wondering the same question. I was going to try out DACP followed by the swirl free, both applied via PC (Btw, I have both white and yellow pads for the PC). Will the swirl free be necessary, or will DACP alone with the white pad be enough?

Personally I would follow up with SFP. I always felt that DACP left a "customer pleasing" finish, but NOT an "enthusiast pleasing" finish. Just MO.



I would also use a polishing pad as opposed to a cutting pad with the PC, especially on black in good condition.
 
Alright I'm confused how does #82 compare to #9 in use?



Also is DACP normally recommended by hand?



I see alot of people use #7 as a glaze, what is your opinion compared to VM?



I have a true blue mustang and it has alot of metallic flake, how would you go about with the products mentioned previously and now on this car? Thanks everyone your help is invaluable:)
 
Use terry cloth towels instead of mfs. Like ZJ JIM 96 said, it gives more bite and you can generate enough heat to make the towels very warm to the touch. Make sure you refold for each section so you have fresh fibers to do the work.
 
Thanks Scott I think I'm getting a grip on this and ready to plunge into it, I feel Danielson one cannot master a machine until he can master it by hand Grasshopper:D
