DA Microfiber System....Jeep...

Hace read the posts on the PC auto buffer, and would lik eone, but does anyone know if they come in 240v (or just the USA 110V). If not do any of the other UK Autopia's know of a similar product to the PC they would recomend.

Worse case is get a 240-110V transformer. Don't compromise if you already have the PC in mind.

I don't have one but it does seems to be the best buffer for consumer use.

I have no idea why they use PO Boxes, but if you ever get a price for a PC, please post it.

Buying the PC is difficult. Not only the voltage is diferrente but also the s&h is more expensive than the tool itself.

There are some other random orbital sanders avilable here in europe for example the Rupes and the Bosch.

Would they do the same work or Is the PC 7424 so good that there is not alternative?

My business used to sell the Bosch (we sell Metabo now). That unit is very similar to a USA model Bosch sells.........if it uses the hook & loop pads, then you have a great local alternative to the Porter Cable. If it doesn't, then you have to check with Bosch about a replacement hook & loop back up pad. Bosch attaches their back up pads differently than Porter Cable, and you need Bosches pads only.

I wish we still had the Bosch products. They're great.
 
Going back thirty years to my boat building days, Bosch has been regarded as the top of the line for hand power tools. Too, I have no doubt that a single Bosch will out live multiple PC's. That said, Bosch doesn't make a model directly comparable to the PC with (in the US line) speeds of 4500rpm and up

Actually, the Model 1370DEVS, 6" Heavy-Duty Random Orbit Sander/Polisher, is the product that competes with the Porter Cable 7336/7424.

Len_A ... Did you read through my post? The PC's rpm range is 2500-to-6000, The Bosch's 4800-to-12,000. In the event that Autopians have no use for speeds between 2500 and less than 4800, you're correct, otherwise ...

Another area your comparison falls short is price - the Bosch lists at $450.00

This Jeep was incredibly tore up! Off road a few times, and it shows! Customer wanted it as good as I could make it look, so I broke out the trusty DA Microfiber Pads and some M105. Problem solved! LOL!

Great work again Nick.

If you don't mind me asking, why were you using M105 with the new DA MF Pads? Was the DA Compound not getting the job done on this one?

At that time, I had VERY limited quantities of the DA Compound. When I started the jeep, I didn't have enough to finish it with, so I had to find something else. M105, M205, Solo, SIP, and a few others on hand at the time. They all seemed to work extremely well with the system, I was just able to finish out with M105 a bit better than the others.

I'm extremely impressed how well these pads work with any other compound, both SMAT and diminishing abrasive technology. It just works very good with anything :2 cents:

That is great information Nick. It's nice to know that the pads work with other products as well.
 
Very nice work there, you can?t argue with the correction with those full on sun shots :thumbup:

What programme are you using for your images? I like the border and your watermark, looks very sharp.

Adobe Photoshop CS4

Please don't ask me how, it's programmed into my Actions, and I can't remember how I set it all up. LOL!
