D151 Durability

I have switched over to using Meg's D151 for all of my basic details (non-correction one-step) and I really like working with the product and the end result. I also like that fact that is works on plastic headlamps and tail lights too! I have started seeing some of the vehicles return for wash/vac/window touch up jobs and I have been shocked at the lack of any water beeding! These are vehicles that I just did a month ago! There doesn't appear to much, if any D151 left on the paint surface. The product appears to be good for one wash/rain then its gone.



Anyone else seeing this durability problem?? I'm dissapointed and I might have to find another one-step product after I have used all mine up. My customers are paying for something that will last and it doesn't make me look good to tell them that their vehicle needs another exterior job after just a month.
 
I did a side-by-side on the hood of my truck with D151 and Poli-Seal. While initially both beaded well, PS is still going strong while D151 has dropped off quite a bit.
 
I use d151 as a one stepper and depending on the customer either hit it with a spray wax like OCW or top it with a paste/liquid nuba.



I don't use d151 as a lsp. I don't think any AIO should be.



Why not hit it with a spray wax? Technology has come far enough so that we have something that takes 5 minutes but gives us months of protection.
 
I did think about throwing another coat of a cheap spray wax on top, but it defeats the purpose of the All-in-ONE. I use the stuff because it is one-step and the people who order this detail package don't want to/refuse to pay for more labor time or product.
 
I use d151 regularly and I have found that it is more of a sheater than a beader. I have noticed prolonged slickness after over a month of a d151 application on a clients car. It is by far not the best LSP or AIO on the market for that matter, but Meguiars never claimed it to be the best. D151 was designed, as well as the rest of the Detailer line, to be a quick result product in a production detailing environment. I like to top d151 with Megs Ultimate Quik Wax or OPT Car wax for added looks and durablility.
 
Dude whats 5-10 minutes more to throw on a spray wax?



Though I havent used it, the only AIOs that ive read that have decent durability is DG501 or ZAIO, but your not going to get anywhere near the correction you can achieve with D151.



I dont know what your going for though. It really only takes me 5 minutes more to go around a car. I dont feel like im losing out on any money or anything. That extra 5 minutes could make a world of a difference down the road.
 
I've used D151 and Poli-Seal recently, by rotary, for 1 step correction jobs. Both performed well and left great finishes. None of the cars left without some form of topper though so I cant comment on durability.



I do like that PS leaves zero residue when applied by machine though, and I would suggest a wipe with Opti-Seal as a topper for either, as it will be just as quick or quicker than a spray wax and longer lasting. Cost per use is also very low as you use so little per car.

Plus 1 as iI usually top either one with Opti-seal and the results are great
 
I recently did a 07 Honda Civic with D151, topped with M20 poly-sealant. M20 flashes (hazes) pretty quickly so by the time I got done applying to whole car with my PC and a red pad, I put on my lambswool pad covered with a mf bonnet and started removing.
 
M151 last at most a month depending on weather and what-not. i have also found it doesn't play well with certain LSP's. It doesn't like Fuzion at all. When topped with fuzion it doesn't bead at all it looks like there was nothing on it. Samething with wolfgang. It does work well with PB's Natty's blue.
