Good Morning All.

I had a call yesterday from a very pleasant lady ,who wants a weekly wash hoover service on two cars .
The other guy packed up last week they are about 15 mins from home they are looking for discount for 2 cars as they say there having 2 done every week.
I said I dont discount as with the best will in the world they cant gaurantee that to me weather and timing etc.
What do you guys do ? discounting would mean im not making what im charging every one else I want to get my prices up across the board giving them a sat slot at low rates is not moving me forward just filling up on cheap work .
She should be calling me back today after speaking with hubby im hoping we can work something out I still have to do the same job every week so why should I discount?.
the hardest part of this job is getting high end customers that are willing to pay for your time skill dedication ,and att to customers needs.
I may be able to skip the inside of the glass twice a month but thats about it.

Let me know what you think guys.
Jay.

I'm guessing "hoover" is to vacuum?
I discount weekly folk for two reasons:
1. The car is more clean when it comes in, so quicker work on book rate.
2. They are more likely to bump up seasonally to jobs that I make more money: Scotchgaurd, polishing, waxes & sealants, wheel sealant, etc.

Im seeing your points of view my travel time is minimal but I just dont need more bottom feeder work time is valuble and its sold to the highest bidder.

I take the point on less work but our area is country side no easy clean ups around here for some time just looked at my notes they are both soft tops so no roof work.

What they are sugesting is less than when I started on day one and less than any other weekly I never have weeklys ask for discount.
I guess im lucky .

Did you ask her what she was paying the other person? your regular price might be lower than his. I'd tell her that you want to work with her but you also don't want to work for nothing. Any resonable person will meet you half way..if she will not then you might not want the business anyway as she might be to picky

I give a discount for weekly's and for multiple vehicles for the same reasons that have already been stated (not as dirty, possibility to upsell, etc). What you need to look at is whether it's worth the work to YOU or not and what you can gain from it. If you stand to gain absolutely nothing then it's probably not worth it. Now, doing a job weekly in a good neighborhood is bound to get you some exposure in the area because you'll be there all the time. I do two cars bi-weekly for basically what it costs me in gas and materials and nothing more...but it's in a mall parking lot and the people I work for advertise for me to everyone at their company, so that one freebie equals a LOT of work for me making the job WELL worth it! As for the price, make sure you write up for your customer the price you would normally charge, or want to charge and show them the discount you are giving them and casually mention that they shouldn't tell anyone else how good a discount you give them because they are "special" customers. That way any new business you get from them will know that 1. you are reasonable and 2. they won't expect the same price as their friends.
