Customer complaint of swirls/holograms over 3 months after truck was buffed? what!!?

But 3 months later and come back and complainted? :furious: Shoot, who know where he had been thru....all I know he probably drove into a swamp or something :grinno: If he is your regular customer, I would just bite the bullete and do a quickie on his truck and shut him up for good.

There is no way in hell you should have to re-polish a daily driver 3 months after doing the original job for anything less than full price. If the car had sat in a garage and was rarely driven and only now the swirls began to appear then they guy might have a case but 3 months? That's just unreasonable. We had a customer in today that had his taurus shampooed Monday of last week complaining that his vehicle smelled musty aster we cleaned it. Turned out he picked up his car early before it was dry and then (against what we instructed him to do) put the mats on top of the damp carpet. It obviously didn't dry out and now it's musty smelling. It was only a week ago and although it's his fault I just had my guys re-shampoo all the floors and we are drying it out. That guy was wrong but at least his request was somewhat reasonable being that we did his car last week. If he had come back 2 months from now I would have told him to pound salt.

Agreed. If he phoned you a week later and wasn't happy, then I would have looked into coming to some arrangement. However, three months down the line is just plain rude. Even us Autopians would have a few swirl marks and light scratches on our daily drivers if all we did was wash the car for three months - and who knows how he actually washes his car...

It's a tough call, but this is exactly why I always get the client to thoroughly inspect the car before they drive away/I leave. I also, like kgb, educate them on how swirls etc get there in the first place and also emphasise that you will get some marks, no matter how careful you are, when washing your car.

Well, I dunno about *that* :D :o But yeah, most people can't wash a vehicle without marring it somehow and a lot can happen in three months. I'd wait until you actually *see* it, might not even *be* true holograms but rather just washing/drying marks.

Guy has his *secretary* call about a complaint like this  I feel sorry for the secretary, and I read a lot into that about what the guy is like in general. Good luck...

I would just say no to be honest, if he's this much of a pain already then you don't want further dealings. 3 months!! thats a joke, 3 days fair enough but 3 months is a joke.

Phone his secretery and tell her you won't be re-polishing the car but will give him a token to a tunnel car wash where they use the BEST sponges created on earth, so good they leave them on the ground.

He was to chicken to call you himself, that's why he dumped it on the secretary. Go over there and look at it and just say "what the hell happen to this"? and see what his reaction is. You can always come back with "this is worse than it was 3 months ago". Tell him how swirls and holograms happen and tell him you see this all the time.

Update. I went back over to look at the truck and it was worse than when I detailed it. He told me how he washes it, and i just felt like crying. he lives on a dirt road so he washes it with a mitt and then drags all the damn dirt from the bottom of the rocker to the paint, since he is just using one mitt!!
