Curious - Your Rotary Pad Size, Type...?

Superbee- I just wanted to give you some props for the information you took the time to share with everyone. That is exactly what this site is set up to do. It is fantastic information for many new rotary users. Even though I already have my tried and true way of doing things, I am sure that there are many non-members that can make good use of that information. this site needs more of this kind of posting and much less of the sarcstic and sometimes down right mean and cocky posts that I see all too often.

So I just wanted to say thanks. Thanks!!

My pleasure, guys. :)

Everything I know about car detailing I learned from the people here on Autopia. If it wasn't for this place, I'd still be using Meguiars Deep Crystal system by hand. Not that there's anything wrong with that... :D

:LOLOL

lol @ Ceep Crystal comment! Dude, you got it right there man, it's where I started too.

I'm glad my thread has been so useful, a bit unexpected :P I shouldn't be surprised though, as an Autopian.

:woohoo:

i just received my rotary and the supplied backing plate is a 6.5 diameter. should go ahead and use that or order a softer backing plate. Also the makita wool pads that came with it , should i even use them ?

Thank you.

+2 on the Deep Crystal System.

We all had to start somewhere, didn't we?! ;)

I borrowed a neighbor's terribly underpowered "rotary" type polisher - one of those craftsman machines ones with a wool bonnet. :waxing:

Never again will I use a bonnet. :chuckle:

I use 6.5" pads. I like them better.

purple lc wool

lc white/black/blue foam

Sometimes I use 5.5" low profile pads for spot correction, but that is rare. I keep those for PC duty.
