Cure time for new paint?

Another forum I frequent for Mustangs, a guy said you should wait 4 to 6 months before applying any paint protection like sealant or waxes because it takes this long for the solvents to go away. That seems excessive I always heard 30 to 60 days! SO WHAT IS CORRECT and can you elaborate on this? Thanks:)

There are so many factors involved that your best bet would be to ask the painter. They are most familiar with the products they use, and can offer the best advice regarding curing time, and what products to use while the paint is curing. If you are referring to a new car, you can wax immediately, as the paint on most new cars is baked at high temperatures to cure the paint before the vehicle is even completely assembled.

Check with your body man. My body shop has an 'oven' which cures the paint right away. When the bs/cc is done, they bake it, then finish with a polish/glaze like #7 and other Meguiars pro body shop line products.

If you have an old school painter, yes, the wait may be 1-2 months. I would find a quality painter.
