'cuda 383 detail 56k warning

There is no cure!
well first off lemme thank poorboy for giving me some information regarding the paint on this car. very helpful... the car is a 1970 'cuda 383. everything is orignal, even the paint unfortunately, which means its a pain in the ass to polish. the paint is single stage. i have never had a car harder to buff than i did today. spent 3 hours polishing.

the engine was probably never detailed in its life. i washed the sides of the walls with qew and hit it with some nxt booster wax in the end. that itself took 45 minutes to just degrease. the interior was in good shape except for the leather being all dried out.

process:

a2z on wheels/tires/wheel wells
sg dilluted 1:1 on all exerior trim.
windows were clayed and aio'd
paint was washed with GC
Polished first with aio (to remove a lot of the oxidation)
compounded with #83 and cutting pad
polsied with #83 and polsihing pad
followed by #80 and polishing pad.
sealed with UPP
all exterior trim and top was dressed with tirm restorer
chrome was done with eagle one neverdull
tires were dressed with BnB
leather was cleaned with sg dilluted 9:1
dressed with a premium leather product for leather couches (dont rememebr the name)
chrome in engine was polished with sio and everything inside it was dressed with stoners trimshine

im doing his 1970 ford mustang mach1 shaker! :) he has about 9 more muscle cars in his garage.

this will make for a very nice portfolio
 
Nice job! That car looks awesome. Ya know, no matter how outdated the tech may be, they just dont make cars that cool anymore. Cheers to the owner for keeping so many nice examples of when cars were cars and whoever had the most cubes (not horsepower per liter) was the man. Did you get to drive it?

I can't think of too many cars that would look good in orange, this is one of the exceptions.

You're killing me here. My friend had a '70 Challenger that was in damn good shape except for a quarter sized hole in the trunk, he ended up selling it for $1,000...way too much money for a 17 year old to afford :boohoo :( :boohoo
 
Wow! How did you attack the engine? Did you spray it down with water? or did you SG and aggiatate the entire bay, I only ask for I have a vintage coming up and would love some advice! Once again looks great!

P.S. Did the single stage result in alot of paint on the pads?

Aloha joyride , way to go . You must have been smiling the whole time. I know I would've. Make sure you take lots of pics . For us and for your collection of detailed muscle cars...

sg'd and wiped down.only thing i can tell u is to hav plenty of rags availablw. i went thru 8 and they were completely black. the sides of the engine wall were easy to clean since there really wasnt much blocking my hands form getting thru. only thing that was a pain was the hose and cords. it was impossible to clean em without getitng tangled..

all my pads got really gummed up. they all turned a darkish brown for some reason.

oh and trust me. pics will be coming... lucklily the 1970 mustang coming up had a paint job done 2 years ago so the paint is actually clearcoated. making it easier to buff and break thru swirls..

What color is the Mach?
 
im pretty sure it was black all over. but if not i thinkit was a greenish mixute with light brown with a white top.

like i said, im really excited about this one because is actually clearcoated.

Someday I will have my dream car...

A 1971 'Cuda Convertible, Sassy Grassy Green with a White Interior. As far as the engine goes, sure I'd love the Hemi, but I'd definitely take the 383.
