Crystal Seal - White Civic

Earlier this week I received my order including Crystal Seal. The only bummer is that I had to wait for today to give it a shot. Originally I was going to try it on a black Lexus but I changed my mind and used my own car - white Civic. Just in case the product went ape on me, I tried it on my car first. My worries were all for nothing, this product is super easy to apply. No problems at all.

I figured I would take the chance to clean the entire car, so I dragged out the gear.

I started with the wheels. Meg APC + Wheel Woolies.

Before washing the car, I soaked it with Meg APC to help loosen the road grime and/or bugs. That part worked fine, but I also thought it may remove the wax, in this case Optimum Spray Wax. Nope, beaded like crazy after the APC.

At this point the car was really clean, the road grime all rinsed off and the paint was beading. I could have dried it and quit.

For the wash I decided to try a new soap, Duragloss 901. 901 worked great in the foam gun, lots of suds, good cleaning ability. I didn't use a bucket with soap, just the foam gun and a bucket of clean water to rinse the mitt.

I love this wash mitt. I have a cheaper one I picked up at a chain store but it is no where the quality of this. This one came form a freebee offer at PBMG, I love it. It would be another write up to describe why.

I spent about an hour going over the car with TPNS.

Again, here is another place I could have stopped. The car looked great. But nope, I wanted to try the Crystal Seal.

This is where the black car would have helped. I wanted to take a few pics of the application but on the white car it was tough to see the product. It self leveled so quickly, that setting up a pic with the right angle and lighting was too big a challenge on white paint. So I just focused on even application and moved over the entire car in less than ten minutes. I must say this is by far the easiest LSP I have ever applied. There was no need for me to follow up with spots that didn't self level because the product just disappeared into the paint. I could see the streak of the product applying and turn away for a second, and it's gone. Just shiny paint left behind. I found myself wanting to use too much product, but one spritz to prime the pad and one on each panel proved to be more than enough. No buffing, I just walked away. My phone (ya no cool camera yet) won't capture what I see, but here are a few pics. The shine is silly, I couldn't stop laughing.....I am a big fan of Wet Diamond, and I can't wait to use that first and top with this, but this alone is amazing. Ease of application, more depth, more shine. Durability is the only hope I have left, I guess. Since it is Blackfire based, it should last.

Thanks for reading!

Let me add one observation....The slickness of the paint is not the level of Wet Diamond but still is very good. Slickness however, is not the only thing I'm looking for. With the ease of application and cost per application, this is a very good choice in sealant.

Great shine there! I have it on my Mazda now for about 6 weeks and it's holding up very well. Awesome product!

TID10,

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try CS on the roof on my black car Sunday if I don't have to take it out in the rain. I applied BF TPnS Friday, BF WD paint sealant today and as I said tomorrow I hope to apply CS. I want to see what my roof looks like before I do the entire car.

I'm also looking for some new MF towels. I have some from Zaino but they shed like my old dog and I don't like the lint factor. Is that a Cobra Deluxe Jr towel you are using? Recommendation?

Deluxe Jr. 600 Microfiber Towel 16 x 16 inches

It's a good towel, very plush and soft. Would work well with spray wax, QD, or any LSP that removes easily, like Wet Diamond. I used FK1000p yesterday and found the towel too soft and grabby, kept slipping out of my hand. For a tougher LSP you would need a thinner towel. IMO. Great towel though. Next I think I will try this one.

Microfiber Clean & Buff Towel, 16 x 16 inches

Thats great TID! WAS IT HARD TO SEE THE APPLICATION of the crystal seal ON A WHITE CAR? Sorry about caps, wasnt shouting! :D

YES IT IS HARD TO SEE ON A WHITE CAR. I STARTED WITH THE HOOD THAT WAS EASIER TO SEE AT ANGLES. WHEN I GOT THE TECHNIQUE DOWN, I DIDN'T ALWAYS WATCH AT ANGLES, I JUST MADE SURE I OVERLAPPED AND COVERED THE ENTIRE PANEL AND MOVED ON. :D:D

Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll give both towels a try.

Also-what is TPNS?
total polish & seal. awesome one step product from blackfire. my jeep has the..
1. TP & S
2. MAINTAINED WITH BF POLYMER SPRAY.
3. ONE COAT OF CRYSTAL SEAL APPLIED YESTERDAY.

these blackfire products are just amazing. not one of the above has fell short of my expatations.

Looks great, can you compare it to UPGP in slickness and ease of use?

Also-what is TPNS?

thanks

^^^^ What he said.

Sorry about all the acronyms.

BLACKFIRE Total Polish & Seal

To be honest, this is the first wipe on walk away sealant I have used. I do not have experience with other products like UPGP to compare it too. I wish I did because if they are as easy to use as Crystal Seal, I could save a lot of time.

like TID10 stated, this is also my first use of a spray sealant. it has a small learning curve, but is goof proof. less is better here. just go over the whole vehicle lightly. the included pads are perfect for this.

Looks great TD, white is my fav color in a car. What wash mit is that?
I don't see the exact mitt on the site anymore. I think this is really close:

Gold Plush Micro-Chenille Wash Mitt

The one i bought locally soaks up way too much water and is really heavy. It also grabs the car and doesn't slide smoothly. The orange one soaks up just the right amount of water/soap, slides easily, and has great cleaning ability for bugs and stuff.

I think it is the same as these. Various colors/options.
