Critique My Business Card #2394823

Mike, I really like how the card is progressing and I think you have a good idea of what looks good. Definitely one of the better "here's my business card!" posts. That 'polish the jesus' comment had me rolling.

By the way, it's "Murders and Executions" not "Mergers and Acquisitions" :)

Sorry for the bump, better than starting a duplicate topic right? ;)

This is the final design I think I've settled on. I know it's not much different, but I think it's less cluttered while still including more vital information. You guys think there's anything drastically wrong with it? Probably sending it off to get printed tonight.

Middle name is Jeremy, and I'm probably swapping them legally sometime this year. Someone pointed it out it may be confusing to have a company named after me (JP is my nickname) and then have an entirely different name on the card. Everyone calls me Jeremy or JP anyways.

You might go with spot UV'ing so it stands out more if you put it somewhere. Basically spot UV'ing changes colors as you move.

Business Cards | UV Coated | Spot UV | Silk Laminated Business Cards

So for instance the white on mine fades to a light red as you move the card

I've got a hook up with a friend right now for these cards, but I'll look into those UV cards. :)

Here's a potential version for the back. I do like how the "watermark" makes it look more visually interesting.

Yea silk laminated + spot uv looks like a photo and stands out. First business cards I got printed off a long time ago was vistaprint and boy was taht the biggest mistake ever looked like it was printed on a blot printer from the 1990's

Where do you all buy Photoshop at? Can I get an older version somewhere?

Also, great looking cards...I would love to be able to create my own!!

Anyplace that sells computer software or probably even directly from Adobe. But PS is not cheap.

There are plenty of other open source packages that are free and will do just as good of a job. Paint.net and Gimp are two that stand out right now.

Don't know if you've sent them off for print yet, but I'd pull the owner/operator text.

Its not really necessary. Especially considering that the company name is obviously your initials.

If you hand someone a card with your name on it, they'll know you're the "operator." When I see people do that it makes me think they were just trying to fill up space.

It would be different if you were the CEO of a company or something.

Also, its kind of strange to me that you have a car with no website reference on it.

Other than that, its a good card. I'd definitely go with the watermark on the back. It make its look a lot more professional.

Might I suggest placing your number on the car side? You've only got it on back side, and a whole lot of people won't flip a card to look for a phone number.

JP......I'm looking at your card on screen (at least 1:1 vs. real size) and I am a little concerned about the font. I like it......nothing wrong at all with the style, BUT, your email address is kind of hard to read/decipher. For some reason, between the font and background color, the address is too hard to read. Maybe it works better in reality, but it looks like a typo in the address would be easy to do.

Only you can tell from the real proof.....but, look at making it more clear somehow.

See ya. :wavey
