Craigslist Marketing Doesn't Work? I have to disagree...

Just so everyone knows, all of the detailers and their associated companies on page 1 of the results have been around for many, many years. Do a search for 'Toronto Detailing.' You'll get 1,400,000 results and my craigslist ad is #2. I think that's an accomplishment.

I think that whether it works or not, its free...and should be more then enough reason to spend 15-20 mins to write up your ad...then keep reposting it....there is a repost option..so once you put in the initial work its painless

well Im happy its working for you...for me, it hasn't been so glam...Only one call in the past 2 weeks

All the tools are here for you to make a successful ad on craigslist. Perhaps it is time now to change your ad, your posting habits, and maybe both.

Also, that's one more call than you would have had without your craigslist ad. For a 2 minute investment each day, it pays off.

I get good customers from Craigslist, but I also get price shoppers. When someone calls, I always explain the process in terms anyone can understand, the estimated time involved, the quality of the products used before giving a price estimate. If I can tell they are on the fence, I'll get an email address and send them before and after shots of previous details. For the ones on the fence, most of the time this does the trick. However, a lot of people just thank me, and hang up after they realize they can't get a full detail for $50.

One thing I have found is that a lot of customers that call me through Craigslist have had bad experiences with previous detailers. Typically, by showing up on time, having good communication, acting professional, and turning out a top notch car, these people are usually very appreciative and become good, long term customers.

Clearly defined prices chase away the price-shoppers for me. I might lose a few customers over that, but I'd rather not try to sell someone on quality who's looking for a $50 job.

Holden,

You are correct that it helps with google just do a search of "leather repair atlanta" and my company is usually on the first page.

On craigslist itself, I don't receive a lot of calls. I don't post everyday anymore, but last year I was posting about three times a week. Has it helped? Yes! Can it generate enough sales to make a company profitable? It hasn't in my case. I still need other accounts. For the time involved and the cost, it is definitely worth it. Compared to ATT yellow pages, I will take Craigslist every day of the week. By the way, be on the lookout for my website The Big ATT Scam. I am getting screwed by ATT and in this day wouldn't recommend putting an ad in the yellow pages. A listing maybe, but an ad no.
