Why in Gods name would you allow someone else to tell you what you need or should drive.

You have to remember, most of the American population are mindless when it comes to cars. They view a car as just another appliance like a stove or refrigerator and know little or nothing about how they work or why they may be good or bad.

As such, they think whatever these magazines suggest (falsely believing that the journalists writing them are car people who know what they're saying) must be the right kind of appliance to buy. I mean, they sure got it right with that Maytag washer and drier and the Kitchen Aid mixer, so why wouldn't they be right about the Toyota Camry?

That's pretty nice not having to buy tires for 18 years. And I do (or have done up to this point in my adult life) all maintenance and repairs on my vehicles as well. Not only is it good to know, but it does save you some money.

I've seen your Explorer, and for sure it is in top notch shape. How many miles you got on it?

And I am to the point where I agree with that was posted above regarding buying new. I don't know that I'll ever buy another brand new one. Especially since the last one I bought using the internet was such a good experience. You can pretty much find exactly what you want, not have to put up with the dealer BS about options and such, and have it delivered right to your door. Not to mention getting one that's already had that first year drop in retail value.

I hate shopping for a car the last one they tried to get me to pay them 500 dollars for this miracle wax that was going to last for 5 years. :crazy2:

My Explorer has 86000 miles that is about the only advantage to being old is when you don't have to go to work every day you don't put the miles on your car so fast.

It also helps that I have other vehicles to drive and it cuts down on the miles on the Explorer.

The first tires were Firestone their was nothing wrong with them but Ford told me to take it in for new tires and since I had 52000 miles on them they were showing some wear so I got free new Firestone tires but when they still had problem they sent me a letter telling me to get new tires.

Wasn't anything wrong with them either but after driving on them for 18 months I let Ford buy me 5 new Michelin's.

For several years the Explorer did not get drove much and the mileage was real low for it's age but in the past year we have been driving it a lot.

My Ranger has 118,000 on it and it has had nothing done to it yet still on original brakes.
Not hard to get 200,000 miles out of one without doing any major work if you don't abuse them like I do the corvette.

Their is nothing original on the vette, I think I have changed every piece on it.
