Couple questions(Black hole with PC)

Very interesting....I had a similar problem on my red truck a couple weeks ago. I had washed it and then just quickly polished the hood with some SSR1. Looked like glass so I set out to apply the Natty's red. Applied it, let it set for a bit and wiped it off. Looked beautiful so I was happy. As it turned out, I applied a coat of wax to the entire truck as it needed it.

I drove the truck to work the next morning and it looked shiny when I left. Pulled it in the garage that evening after work, got out and said "What the ****?!?!?" I couldn't believe my eyes, but my whole hood was hazed over. It looked like I had just smeared stuff all over it. And to be honest, I was more concerned that people at work might have seen it and thought how horrible my truck looked  and wondered what the heck I had done because I'm always getting comments on how great my cars look at work.

I quickly grabbed a MF towel and with some effort was able to remove it, but some spots really took some rubbing to get it all off. However the rest of the truck seemed to be fine. This 350 really cranks out the heat, so maybe the combo of the truck sitting in the sun all day, plus the added heat from the motor on the drive home just caused issues...I don't know.

So...I'm not sure what the deal is, but the Natty's red seems to be the common denominator here.

I think I may stick to the Natty's blue going forward. Seems the red is always hard to get off and I always find spots a few washes later that I missed.
:hmmm:

Oh...and on a side note...the second time I used the Black Hole on my black SUV, I had a haziness issue, but I found that I didn't have it wiped off well enough before applying my EX and Natty's over it.

Interesting,:inspector:

I was worried about the same thing :rofl

I guess I need some Blue:drool:

well to do some investigating, we just washed my truck ( pictures can be seen in the BnB gel sample thread) and I opened a new jar of Red. Put it on in the sun, (and it's already 82 and humid), very thin (as can be seen in first two pictures) , got the camera took a few shots, and then used a DMT to remove. It can off quick and easy :inspector:
last two pictures are after it was removed. I'll look for a full sun shot...

just as a point of reference, unlike Natty's Blue or White, I tend to apply Red to a panel and then remove :hmmm: it really does not have to completely haze over ... I will keep an eye on it for a few days and report back .. it is supposed to be very hot and humid the next few days

Thanks Steve. :rockon

I have always applied the red to the whole car and then removed it.

You need to do some demos on my car when we come up.:D

I thought about that when i was re-reading this thread the last few times ...
I also replied on the AG forum about working in hot humid weather, that I like to spit shine with cold S&G and do small sections at a time.
I also do remember the first time i used red and layed it on too thick and it was a PITA to remove, so we went as thin as possible and it was just fine.
One other point I'd like to make, you can spit shine with the S&G first before applying the Red, but don't do it the opposite, S&G or other quick detailer after for removal or you may just get smearing like you have. ;)

Here's a few shots since applying a few days ago
We will strip off the Red, then clay , Black Hole and then Red again next week as we have not seen the haze as of yet :inspector:

I did a wash with some APC and soap then just did a coat of red, no BH. Drove home from Belmar a couple hours later, lets see if I have any hazing tomorrow

Ive seen this before with carnuba on the hoods and roofs with a lot of heat. It doesent do it after the first wash.

I noticed a little hazing today, just on part of the hood. :surrender

I did clay the hood yesterday prior to the Red. I wonder if the hood was repainted, I know the qtr panel was and some of the side was blended.

Matt we'll have to take a closer look when you come up in a few weeks.

I drove down to exit 8a yesterday in the blazing heat and got caught in bumper to bumper traffic on the way home for an hour and you could see the heat coming off the hood and I have no haze at all :hmmm:

can you tell me the exact process you use step by step?

I'll try:

Washed the car in the shade in the morning with APC and Maguires Gold. Clayed the hood because I wanted to make sure I got everything off of it.
Then applied the Red in the shade. I did the hood last in circles and let it haze up. Removed it with an MF that was washed and clean.

I think either the wax is effed up from sitting in my trunk in the heat, I don't leave it in there during the winter or something is up with the paint.
This didn't happen last year and I used it frequently like Ron taught me.

you didn't use a qd to remove correct?

last suggestion before we see it in person, either do a spit shine while applying the Red or just apply it and wipe it right off ..no waiting ..:hmmm:
