could you guys confirm my detailing plan?

Hi, I'm really enjoying being an Autopian. I really take pride that I'm a part of this forum now.

Anyway, I'm planning to do a full detail this weekend.

1) Dawn

2) Clay

3) SMR

4) Dawn

5) Klasse AOI x 2 (or 3?) with 1 hour intervals

6) Klasse SG x 3 with 24 hour intervals

7) Blitz Wax'

I just want to know what all of you think...?

I'm wondering if the 2nd Dawn wash application is necessary? I just feel like I really want to get it super clean before applying AOI.

The extra washing will remove any excess oils.

I assume that bySMR you are using Meguiars #9 Swirl Mark Remover version 2.0. IT doesn't have any oils that may interfere with the Klasse.

Hi TurDz,

That sure looks like a plan of action that will bear fruits of your labor. The 2nd Dawn wash is not really necessary because the SMR will really prep the surface well for the Klasse. Instead of using Dawn, you could try Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo prior to your Klasse application. It does not have the stripping properties nor does it contain wax so it will help you start with a squeaky clean surface to apply your Klasse. Everything else you mentioned looks good. When applying your last topper which is your Blitz wax. Watch out for your black rubber moldings around your vehicle because blitz will stain it white. But nothing to be afraid of, you could use a good quality dressing or as some Autopians have mentioned, you could use peanut butter right out of the jar.

Have fun with your detail project this weekend. Patience is a virtue and it is so true when it comes to detailing.

With Aloha,

Turdz,

Sounds like a plan :)

However, for my maxima, I skip the multiple applications of AIO, and just make sure I work the product in well. As per the instructions on YoSteve's site, I go over the car twice with the AIO before buffing off. This should be sufficient for a mild cleaning after clay, especially with SMR in the mix. Your car is probably fairly new so your plan will work quite well. AIO doesn't layer up, SG does, so spend the extra time on applying the SG correctly. Remember thin is the key.

Maximas with Klasse :xyxthumbs

go maximas! lol, I feel so elite being on this forum. Honestly, I don't really feel worthy to actually give input here yet. It's just astounding how devoted all of you guys are...at first I thought I was crazy. I spent so much time detailing my car I was always too tired to drive it.

But after seeing results with my first real quality product, Klasse, it's all worth it.

BTW, my car is a 96, and the paint is pretty decent, except on the front and rear bumpers (very scrached and chipped :(). But luckily, my car is fairly dark colored and those imperfections are usually invisible, especially with after a nice detailing session.

thanks again for all of your input. any more would be great.
