Could a pro detailer use a DA polisher and get good results?

I have a Da it's the right tool to get started. I have a cyclo and love it. I'm not sure how much correction work you will actually see. It seems like on the forums a lot of guys are always talking about correction work and compounding 3 step details, but in the real detailing world it's a lot of wash and wax type stuff. buy a good da and find a good AIO. That is the work that will fill your appointment book.

Wow, I was actually thinking about that. It's great you chimed in with that. My thinking is that most detailers don't do concours level stuff, and deal with regular people most of the time. I realize there are people here that do, but it shouldn't take away from the people that don't do the same work. Everyone has different goals and ideas.
I had a feeling it was a lot of wash/wax type stuff with a bow on top, but didn't wanna come out and say it. But in no way am I trying to take away from those that spend countless hours. I just don't see myself as one of those right now. I'm in it for the money, to be honest. But I do want to learn the right way.
I'm just gathering opinions and seeing what makes sense to me and going for it. And I appreciate all the help.
And believe it or not, the questions will end. I'm just trying to take advantage of your knowledge. Sure, I could google for stuff, and I do, but I like it here. Sue me.

BUT it won't work on certain vehicle contours; I had to try different polishers (e.g., the PC) when I got the XJS back in '85 as the Cyclo just wouldn't work on some sections of that particular car.
