Cost of replacing extension springs

I just got rough quote of $130 to replace my extension springs. Is that a good ballpark ?

Reality is, after reading about the dangers involved in this fix, I don't think I'm willing to do this myself.

Thanks,

Scott

definitely a job for professionals....i wouldnt suggest doing it yourself. I had two torsion springs replaced last month totaling $135....so 130 is certainly reasonable.

What are you guys talking about? Replacing those extension springs is done when the door is OPEN, when the springs are hardly under any tension. The torsion springs are a lot more difficult, IIRC. However, $130 is pretty cheap for anything that requires someone coming to your house.

yeah, i know that extension springs are replaced when the door is open and under barely any load. I would never do torsion springs. Time is a factor in this decision as well. This is also a "test" of how the service of this company is as I will probably want to use them for a garage door when I blow this garage away and make it a 2 car (hopefully in a year). :D

Just wanted to see if it was a reasonable quote to start.

Thanks,

Scott
