Cost of Dent removal.

It really pisses me off when people have no respect for other peoples properties.

I just got a dent from someone sitting on the car or something.

I wasn't there when it happened and so I can't go and beat the ****** up or anything. I want to get it repaired.

How much do you think it will cost me. No paint was damaged and it seems it can be popped out.

Here is the pic.

Would this be fixed with that paintless dent removal procedure?

What would be the price for fixing something like this?

Thanks in advance!!!

That dent did not happen from someone sitting on your car. Something rolled into it that had a lot of power behind it. It could have been the spare tire on the back of a truck or something like that. Or maybe someone was thrown into your car. It takes a lot to get a body panel to dent that far in and I don't think sitting on it would do it. Not on that part of the car most of all.

If there aren't any hard creases in the dent then it can be pulled out. If they can't pull it out then they'd have to go in behind it and take it out that way.

I really have no idea on the cost for something like that. I had a dent pulled out of the trunk of my car and it cost me $1500 to have it done. There was one small crease where the paint cracked so they had to repaint the whole trunk. My insurance company totalled out the trunk and they gave me $2000 to replace it. Since it was a hit and run and I still had to pay the deductible I had to find a way to get it repaired for the remainder. Such a pain... I would take it to a couple shops and get an idea of how much it will cost. It might be worth it to have your insurance company look at it if a shop quotes you a really high price. They may total the panel and give you the money to replace it and then you can have it repaired.

You could try "the ding king". My friend got it and pulled out a dent that was probably pretty similar to that one. (I only saw the "after" of his car)

I tried it on mine on a sharper and smaller ding (looks like hail damage in a way, but the metal around it was bent in a little more). It pulled it out so all but the middle was realitivly flat with the rest of the car. I'm going to go back at it after I wash my car again. My friend gave me some more advice for pulling the remaining part after he saw it.

You won't get it perfect with this tool, but it will be a lot better and cheaper than pro-work. Maybe it would even pay to pull it out some so they don't have to do it. dunno.

What level of perfection are you looking for?

That dent is way too big for the ding king. That is a huge dent and the ding king is only a few inches long.

If you start on the outside of the dent and work your way in, it probably could work out. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the picture, though. I think that one would be tough for the ding king, though. It looks like it is a little bit creased at the top, and ding kings don't do well with that type of damage.

I would think a pro could and would quote you an approximate price and better access the damage than I can from the picture.

Here it is from another angle.

I guess it is pretty bad. I'm so pissed right now...

I want to smash the face in of the person who is responsible.

At this point, I don't want cash or anything, I just want revenge.

I don't do this kind of **** to other people's cars. I have respect for other people's property. I wish everyone lived by the golden rule.

Please let me know some more guestimates on the damage.

Thanks all...I hope this doesn't happen to any other autopian...

Take it to a Paintless Dent Repair shop. Those guys can work magic with metal. I bought my 01 Mustang used and it had several door dings in both doors and they were able to remove all traces of them. I know a door ding doesn't compare to your dent but, it is worth a shot. The typical fee is about $75 per panel (not dent). They should be able to tell you up front if they can remove it or not. Try www.dentwizard.com to locate a shop near you.

Thanks for the great info rjstaaf...

I am going to a acura dealer tomorrow to have some work done and luckily, they have Dent Wizard there.

If it is about $75 per panel, then I can deal with that. Even if it were $200 per panel I would be ok with it.

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear. I saw the animations on that site and it seems they do great work. Maybe I'll ask them to get out some dings while I'm there.

Once again, thanks everyone for the info...I'll let you guys know how it went.

For people that have had dings taken out of their car, can you sill see where the ding once was? I have 2 REALLY small dings, that I figured wouldn't even be able to be repaired, would they still be able to repair them?

PDR can be pretty good if you know where to go. A guy I know who also has a Maxima (his is a 96) dented his trunk while pushing the car last winter. The dent was right on this crease that's in the top of the trunk. He showed me where it got pulled out and it was absoloutly perfect. Not sure if it will work as well for a cruved panel with a severe dent like that though.

That is mos def not a door ding...something *bad* happened there. It is completely unbelievable to me that someone would cause that much damage to your car. That's why I park FAR FAr Far far away from the store/mall/whatever though...the farther the better.

I have an 01 Mustang and the part of the door panels that usually get dinged are perfectly flat so any ding really stands out. I had 2 in each door and there is absolutely no trace of the dings left. I since got another one and will be taking it in again to have that one removed.

Well, I took the car in today to have the dent specialist have a look at it. He said it would cost me $180 to have it fixed. And since I'm happy with the price, I told him to go ahead and do it.

We'll see what kinda work he does. I'll put up pics tonight if I can of the work he did...

Wish me luck!....

If i would have known I may have been able to get it done for you at a lower price. I offer PDR with my detailing.

How many dings are we talking about and how many panels are damaged

nyd

WOO HOO!!!!

They did a great job on it...

It looks like it never happened...no creases anywhere, no nothing.

Just the way I like it.

I'll have the pic of it up tomorrow...

The rain prevented me from getting any good pics.

Thanks again for the info rjstaaf!

NYdetailer, maybe I'll think of you when I decide to get some dings out. Thanks for the offer! :D
