Anyone here have a cordless orbital or know much about them. When I brought mine the guy tried to talk me into one. Because this was the first one that I was getting I went with the cord model.

The reason I would like to get one now is, when I'm working on the sides of the car I sit on a mechanics chair the ones with the hard wheel. I'am fighting with the cord the whole time. After a while you just get tired of it.

So any advice or insite would be helpfull.
 
Detlman bought a cordless buffer some time back and seemed to be fairly well satisfied with it. If you go to his profile and search his old posts you will find some info on it.
It sounded like it could be a good addition, but might not be a total replacement for the corded version.
 
I had an old air powered D.A. sander I unscrewed the bearing end and made a new collet to fit a cordless drill. unscrew the chuck and it is handy to use. the thing to look for is enough battery and the most rpm that you can with a drill. I have a porter cable 14.4 volt battery and that will do an average size car with one battery. I have a DeWalt 6" sander that I use now with a cord velcro attach never runs out of power and I get a better shine. My perfect version of a D.A. would be a machine that has a 6" velcro and starts at 2,500opm and would increase to 6,800opm for a high gloss finish. I would buy that machine in a heartbeat
 
6,000 rpm could very well be about the max. the DeWalt machine I have is actually a sander, but it works very well as a buffer. that is where I could be getting the extra rpm. I have used the machine for several months now and have had no problems.
