Conspiracy in the detailing world?

Eh, you know what my first thought was... Who cares?
Some people just have too much time on their hands.

As much as I love being able to be a part of the car care industry sometimes I just feel like saying "Dude, get a life, it's just car wax."

I don't care if Meguiars makes Stuf or if Blinded is the chemist that makes Stuf. If the company treats their customers well then that is all that matters.

Funny how someone that runs "unbiased" tests really has a thing for exposing "Mr. Mouthpiece".

LOL! He said "nibble".

It's very common in the compounding industry to do toll blending for a company. Most small companies don't have the resources to allow them to have a complete manufacturing facility so they contract with a company to make the product for them under their formula and their label. It happens in many other industries also (car care, hair shampoos, household cleaners, paints etc.). Just becuase Meguairs or anyone else may have something to do with blending and packaging the product it doesn't take away from the quality of the product or the company. It might be made by Meguiars this year and Mothers next year. Small companies will put it out for bid and sign a contract for a certain length of time. :)

I really have no respsect for the "unbiased" test person. He's got a big chip on his shoulder and has several lemmings to follow him around.

From what I read, this cannot be MORE true! It's amazing the attacks that are ALWAYS taken towards some products. I do and always will use what works the best for ME no matter who makes it. This whole thing just makes my head spin how someone can be so "unbiased," yet so deep digging!?!?!?

This was my opinion when I read the multiple threads on various boards.

Yeah, I all but got run out of there for having an opinion....

The thread at Autopia has been locked down. It's funny how the mod was all down my throat when I said NOTHING inflammatory!! Oh well, it's just wax!!

LOL....when I saw the title of the post I thought someone figured out that Poorboy and Dwayne were in fact one in the same. You know, you never see them out together.

That's funny Natty, cause after initially meeting you , i thought you and the Fuzz were the same person since you're both sooo smooth :lmfao :rolling :rofl

My take: I really don't care who makes a product. If the product works, it works. So, if Stuf makes good car care products, so be it. I don't understand why it would be part of an advertising agency. I can understand it being part of Meguiars but the advertising agency really has nothing to do with car products so why would both companies be located at the same building with the same fax number? It is strange and all, but who really gives a crap anyway? The only thing that would bother me about this is if their products were simply Meguiars products being sold under a different name. Its possible that I may have tried a particular Meguiars product and not liked it very much. Then, what if I go out and try out Stuf, only to find out its the exact same formula? I feel like that would be deceving and unfair to me as a consumer. But, just because that company deals with Meguiars and Mothers doesn't mean that they are involved in Stuf's products (although its very possible). I really don't think that thread on Roadfly really proves anything, it only speculates. I also agree with everyone that Steve (not you Poorboy, the guy from Roadfly ;)) was not "unbiased." He drew a lot of conclusions from only a little information. The whole thing really isn't a big deal. I'll probably never use the Stuf products anyway...I'm too busy using Poorboy's!!! :bigups

The gist of it is that Stuf themselves say that the product is neither the best nor the worst, but that it's really good, and the reason you should prefer it is the image projected by it being marketed by people whoare "passionate". They claim to be motivated by love rather than money.

Every one decide for themselves whether that's enough of a hook to try the stuff. It got them on the radar, though.

For me, I don't need another product that's just as good as all my other products. But someone else might like a product's image well enough to prefer it to an equally good (or even better) product with inferior marketing and advertising.
