Consistency of clearkote moose glaze

I got my first bottles of clearkotes vanilla and red moose glaze in today, but the consistency seemed very strange to me. The red looked really seperated and liquidy. The vanilla didnt seem as seperated, but again, very liquidy. Is this right for these glazes? I shook the red and it seemed to blend back together ok. If you have some, please chime in.
 
Yep, VM is rather thin and RMG will separate over time...... as long as it blended back it sounds normal to me. Both are great products :xyxthumbs
 
Another option that I use every once in a while is the Pink Moose. Mix the Vanilla and Red together. You get the minor correction with the VM and the deep wet look with the RM. So you get the best of both worlds!

Plus they tend to stay properly mixed. Not sure why each seems to seperate on their own but not when mixed together.
 
I had a problem where after they seperated I am guessing the solvents evalorated and they turned into chunks. I stopped buying ClearKote products since they did not have a very long shelf life for me.

I have also had this problem with poor shelf life and seperating of VM. Mine is about 1 year old and on the shelft it has seperated into multiple layers.



It seems to mix back OK, but once it has sperated to this extent it won't stay mixed. In fact, in the time to apply to 1 vehicle it will seperate a few times!



Should I pitch it? Any solutions? I love it's ease of use and results but I won't reorder due to this problem.

I've never timed how long it takes to separate. I'm just in the habit of giving my products, especially the thinner ones, a shake or two fairly often. OCW is an example of a product that if you don't shake it often you could run into problems.
Should I pitch it? Any solutions? I love it's ease of use and results but I won't reorder due to this problem.

Has your bottle been exposed to temperatures extremes (high or low)? Some people leave their supplies in the garage in the winter and if they freeze they often exhibit problems like you mention.



I just checked one of my bottles of VM that has been sitting for a couple of weeks and while it did separate, it was only two layers (a thin layer on top). After shaking and letting it sit here for about 30 minutes it still looks OK. As cleanyourcar mentioned, you might want to call or e-mail ClearKote.
 
Product has never frozen .... but it does get pretty hot in my garage here in South Carolina. I suppose it could approach 100 F on certain days.



I would feel funny contacting the vendor ... after all the product is 1 year old.

That is the type of feedback manufacturers want to hear. They might not like a negative comment but if it helps them make better products for us all, it ends up being a good thing.



I have met Everett Glass (the owner of Clearkote) and he is genuinely interested in both good and bad feedback so he can continually improve his product line.
