Confused about clays? Not any more!

PS good find on the deal.. but if you can't use that much clay then it's not a deal..

I doubt seriously I'll ever use it all. Heck I already sold one package to a co-worker to use on his Mercedes.

As to doing the "same thing" on another site, I've been there over a month and just posted that deal today (and a US Plastics deal a week or two ago).

Sometimes it seems like the only thing I DON'T buy in bulk is perishable food :)

I knew that there was going to be some mistakes and left some out, so I'll try my best to get it updated. Also forgot Adams clay. Did i miss any other ones?

As for the Detail Plus- If 2 4oz bars= 19.95 which means $9.97 per bar. When you buy five or more the bars are $9.95 each... doesn't seem too good to me. I added 5 bars and that equaled $99.75 or 10 for $199.50. All of which add up to $2.50 per ounce. Those are my observations but let me know if I did something wrong with the before I update it. BTW that site is unsecure for future referance.

No, that's 10 bars. The packages are 2 bars each. So when you buy 5 packages, that's 10 bars at $9.95 per package of 2. Or "$19.95 per 8oz container ($9.95 each for 5 or more)"

The 5 or more is 5 or more packages of 2 (or 5 x 8 oz if you prefer). In other words they give you basically a 50% discount (which seems insane, but they do, go figure).

Their site sucks, so I ordered by phone when I bought from them.

Anyway, forget it, it seems like I'm getting attacked from every angle for merely bringing it up.

And for the record, the site where I first found out about this deal is here: http://www.tintdude.com/clay-bar.html

Found it doing a google search a few weeks back.

So I went there and put 1 into my shopping cart. Thats 2 bars. The total was $19.95 which equals out to $9.98 (9.975 forgot to round up before) per bar. So I then added 5 which totalled $99.75 which is still $9.98 per bar. I added 10 into my shopping cart and the total was $199.50 which is 20 bars which is still $9.98. Maybe the discount isn't added automatically online or something? Does anyone else have different findings or any other clays that you have used?

That's what happened to me. I had to call them, then their sales lady called me back 1/2 an hour later.

It was a pain in the butt.

So maybe I should refine my original post to say their ordering process is a royal pain, but the price is good.

Like I said, forget it. If you think I'm a shill, or think I'm lying or whatever, forget it. I know what I paid, I know what I got for what I paid, and I can rest comfortably knowing that I'm 100% honest in all my dealings and all my postings.

I'm done. I didn't realize that passing on savings would be so tumultuous.

If anyone doubts me, call them. I don't care. I just know I've never been made to feel so unwelcome in so short a time on ANY forum ever.

Not to disparage your findings, but I always use froogle. As you are aware, prices go up, prices go down. That whole price list could be subject to change next month. Froogle keeps it up to date.

I think you might be taking it a bit far.... no one was trying to make you feel unwelcome. Charles is an admin, and he was just watching out for spammers, which is a problem.

I understand that spammers are a problem. However, by making less than ten posts, I've had my integrity questioned, my honesty questioned, my math skills questioned, etc.

I was not saying you spamed both board I did notice your other posts on the A site is what i ment .. the us plastic post included.

I can see your point.. the site is what's in question here not your math..

Thanks, I understand. :).

Yeah, their site is terrible (and most of the products they have really sound like they're geared towards selling to the big "attached to an automated car wash" market).

But like I said, I found the discount on that tint site, and the price was still good so I went for it.

Budman3,
Thanks for the post and the effort it took to collate all that info. I printed it off for my detailing notebook. While prices may change and sales prices on clays come up periodically, I think your comparison chart can give members a head start on comparison shopping.

Hey! How you doin'?

Now that you've had your general well-being questioned by me now, welcome to Detail City. I run the place and do want you to enjoy it here. I haven't had the time to read the posts that questioned you. I just dropped in to see what was happening on the forums. PM me if you ever need any questions, comments or concerns about the forums addressed and I will be happy to help.

Thanks!

Dwayne
