Concentrations of alcohol and vinegar

What parts do you mix alcohol or vinegar to water in a spray bottle, actual oz's would be better:) I hate math. Does the strength of the alcohol matter? thanks

Most recommendations are for a 1:1 mix with rubbing alcohol. I use the vinegar straight, but don't leave it on longer than a couple of minutes, but I have read where some use vinegar as a lubricant for claying.

Any possibility vinegar or alcohol can hurt your paint, you said not to leave it on more than a couple minutes, why is that? Thanks:up

Vinegar is 5% acetic acid and is an irritant to eyes, skin, and respiratory system. Apple cider and some other vinegars leave a residue when it evaporates, hence the reason for limiting the time on the car as well as your exposure to the fumes. And the vinegar does the cleaning job within a few seconds. The same rules apply to alcohol, particularly if you've diluted it with tap water (residue). The problem is more the residue left after evaporation than any potential for damage from either vinegar or diluted rubbing alcohol.

I think if your using vinegar as part of your prep work, theres little chance of any adverse effects. I have used it for cement splatter removal, for as long as 1/2 hr, without any ill effect. The vehicle was completely detailed after its use, so i wasnt too concerned about residue. Works wonder for cement.....I may have reservations about leaving it on for that amt of time on a neglected surface as the above post mentioned.......
