Collinite Speed Stick Wax

I did this once with P21S, and it worked pretty well. However (and the OP mentions this as a possibility), the plastic container wasn't completely airtight, and over time, the wax did dry out. Keeping it in a ziplock or other sealed container is probably a good idea.

Wow, such a great idea! Had actually wondered why no manufacturer offered their paste waxes in a pop-up container.. Well I guess it's because autopians would be some of the few people who would find it useful :)

I think it would appeal to a broad audience but then you'd get the bubba's applying it directly to the paint and wondering why it took forever to dry and then was hard to take off.:grrr

Eliot Ness,

... think the pits would be shiny, deep and wet looking? And would the pits last all winter long with a durable luster if it was the 476? Could I buff the pits with a PC? Maybe a rotary at low speed? Would I have to mask off my shoulders first?

har har. Hurt myself laughing at that one, JohnC. Thanks.

I can just see the TV commercial for this:

"Collinite Speed Stick. Strong enough for a car ... but made for an Autopian."

Though the intelligent person in me knows that is a stupid idea, Why is it that I am tempted to try that idea on myself . . .

AXE no. 16 - the axe effect remains, but with 3 months of durability. :2thumbs:

this was a laugh out loud read for me going through the responses, a first here on autopia. And to the guy who wrote the original post, great write-up! Only from the minds of geniuses!!

I was doing it with the old fashioned Simoniz in 1992. Worked perfect. Similarly, if you'll put a pre-softened paste like DG paste into a Gillette gel stick, it will work also good. I did it with SCJohnson Auto Pudding.

Some/same ideas always come back...

I had to quote myself as the frequent reposts started to bug me... I went down to the cellar to dig out my REALLY OLD stuff.

Well, I couldn't find the Simoniz stick, but I could find the mentioned Gillette/Auto Pudding thingy from 1992 (the AP itself is a lot older actually). It is absolutely useless now, dry and cracked, but an interesting flashback from the past. More interesting, that I found the original Auto Pudding too!

Now the pics:

Even the original applicator is in there!

Well, let's see what's under the rusty lid...

OMG, what a seal! The stuff is perfectly smooth, creamy and usable! Look at that glossy lid & jar inside!

So, two pieces of detailing history... I have to find a nice place for them.
