Collinite Sapphire PreWax Cleaner #840

Note that I'm basically a big fan of Collinite. Note also that I've never used the Sapphire 840. That said...

The only reason I can think of for dissuading use on dark paints is that they're more likely to show micromarring from a harsh product that doesn't finish down very well. I wouldn't use it. "Just a cleansing polish"? There are plenty of those that're fine for any paint, so I'd choose one of those instead.

As Accumulator noted, this is an old product designed for single stage paints (and gelcoat?), and doesn't really have clearcoat safe abrasives (although I think they have toned it down a little because it seems to me at one time they said not for clearcoats at all, while now they say not for dark paints). Unless I'm getting confused with the Sapphire wax, last time I used that was on an air conditioner.

I used it decades ago (no old jokes please), but never on anything darker than a dark bronze. (think 70's era gm)

Did a nice job of cleaning.

Haven't used 840 but I have used 870 which appears to be about the same with added 885, kind of their AIO. It was used on the Wife's Desert Sand paint which is kind of a light color and a Buff and Shine blue pad on some oxidized clear coat on the roof and worked very well with no noticeable marring. When finished I applied 476S over the buffed off 870. What it would do on a dark blue or black I do not know.
