I just picked up a bottle of insulator wax to try because I'd heard that it works pretty well and I thought I'd give it a try. Interesting that on the bottle it says "heavy duty paste" even though it's really a liquid (or more like a lotion), but the part that really got my attention was this statement printed on the back:
"When used on high voltage power lines it prevents dangerous "flashovers," which can cause power failures, fires and explosions." :dunno
Does anyone know if this statement is true, and if this stuff is really used in the power industry? Anyone have any experience with it?
