collinite 845 - the problem, or the situation?

I have both pre/post-VOC versions and never noticed any differences to speak of even after doing side-by-side/etc. comparisons :nixweiss

.......My niece-in-law uses 845 in Memphis, and that's one hot/humid environment...zero problems for her but she's doing it by hand.

Agree with you - no problems with 845 in hot humid weather.

In hot and humid weather, I applied 845 by hand (1st time experience with 845 yesterday!) using a handheld Megs foam pad.

5mins later, I could buff it off very easily with MF, leaving behind NOTHING, but an impressive gloss. No problems at all.

This morning, applied 845 on top of Klasse AIO. No problems .

Love this product, and continued to test it later in the day on top of various polishes.

I am thinking its the situation, but I would think it shoudnt matter...

last night while working on a truck, I applied 845 while it was dark out and cool outside, with a little moisture. I applied 845 with a tan meguiars pad with 2 times overlapping passes - up and down. I applied it to the whole truck and came back to wipe it off...On a G35 I did, same thing, applied to the whole car and came back to wipe it off. This time it was semi light out, and not as cool. Speed 5 on the pc

What happened was it looks like the wax would not release from the paint, almost like ((((((((((((( still in the paint (looks like i didnt remove it). I tried wiping it off with 3 different MF towels, then pulled out some last touch and QD to try and remove it - NOTHING. So I had to spend another hour to remove it with poliseal and a polishing pad, which really pissed me off as I still had to spruce up the interior, but at this time it was 8pm and I didn't want to continue working in the dark, at the clients house with the vacuum howling, pissing off the neighbors, so I am going back and doing the interior when I do their boat!

Happened on 2 other cars (all blacks) and this makes me not want to use it anymore even though I USUALLY get great results from it! easy on and easy off!

I have blackfire coming right now, so I will hopefully not run into this problem. I stopped using M21 for the same reason!

School me if its my technique....but I dont think it would be as its just a wax application

There could be a layer of "something" on your black car (from previous detailing jobs) that was not compatible with 845.

I tested 845 on 5 black cars today, with hand foam pad, PC and rotary. No problems at all.

It was 845 on top of Megs DACP, Megs 205 and Klasse AIO.

But....I experienced your problem when I applied it on top of:

1. 3M perfect it glaze.

2. Meguiars SwirlFree Polish.

It seems (and I could be wrong) that 845 might "dislike" those polishes and glazes that are good in covering up swirls.

That's my hypothesis.

So, be careful what you hv under your 845.

You could always pre wipe with r/a & water .... I never had problems with it but around here it didn't last as well as #105 or Megs #21... so it sits on the shelf.

IME 845 is OK over Autoglym SRP and also the 1Z products that leave stuff behind (so you can still use 845 when some concealing needs to be done).

And yeah, it always works OK over KAIO (which should also remove anything else that was on there, making it a good paint-cleaning step to make sure the 845 won't cause issues).
