Collinite 845..nuba or sealant?

Carbon Blue

Even though 845 is labeled as an insulator wax is it really a wax or a type of sealant? Is there any nuba in 845? I just tried it over the weekend and I think it matches the depth and clarity of s100 when I used it on my dark blue celica. THe mettalic flake just pops out, I absolutely love it!

I haven't used my Insulator wax on my Nighthawk black pearl Honda yet but have used it on my old white civic and it was pretty darn decent on the shine but the durability was amazing!. can't believe how strong collinite wax is.

my celica is carbon blue which is pretty similar to your nighthawk black pearl. Its amazing stuff! the blue flake really pops out in mine.

What kind of durability?

It stayed through the salt/snow we've had here in Reno with no problem. I didn't get a chance to wash my car for 3 weeks and the wax was still holding up fine. I believe it has carnuba in it to answer your question.

IW is tough stuff. Really lasts for a long time with 5 months not being unusual and also beads like crazy. The appearance is great but it also makes a great winter wax or wheel wax.

Here on Autopia everyone seems to refer to it as a carnauba with exceptional durability. They must add something to it to extend the durability compared to some of the other carnaubas out there. It sure beads like a 'nuba!

845 is the best of several worlds, easy on and off, creates a great protective barrier, and has great durability. I figure it's basically Collinite 476 "light" so I'm adding enough layers (4 so far over a period of weeks) to match 476 level staying power. :woot2:

can you get the 845 on black plastic parts? i usually go right over the black with my zaino, but i just purchased some 845 and the wolfgang deep gloss sealant and i know both of those are supposed to have a slight amount of nuba in them, so i am a little reluctant to get it on the black.

you can definitely go over black trim with 845 and it looks great! no staining whasoever

Why not just use 476 then? I have both 845 and 476 and I am very happy with both of them. I first purchased the 845 and when that started running low I ordered a tin of 476. Currently my truck has 476 on top of Opti Seal. I can't tell the difference in appearance between the 845 and 476 as both of them look spectacular, but after many washes the 476still beads practically as if it was just waxed, whereas the 845 would have dropped off somewhat. Also, I have not experienced any difficulty in removing the 476 as alot of folks here seem to have a problem with if applied too thick.

I know this is a bit OT, but:

Has anyone topped 845 with Souveran. I want serious protection and have both of these products and dont want Souveran on there alone (crap durability). Any noticeable improvement when topping 845 with Souveran?

I've been meaning to buy-try out 476, but I promised myself and my wife....no more waxes-lsp purchases until I get through the majority of my stockpile. I barely even touched my FK1000p, 216, 218, 2180, PinkWax, Klasse AIO-SG and ClearKote Moose Wax and they are feeling even more neglected now since a gallon of Prima Hydro accidentally landed on my doorstep. Don't even tell about the other box on the right. :faint: In this place, I know I'm not alone. :bigups

845 is currently protecting a 600 miles old silver Suzuki SX4. Hydro is on the red MINI Cooper.

No, but I did top 476S with Souveran, using a spit-shine method with Griot's SpeedShine as the "spit". Make a slight improvement but only after I'd done a few applications of the Souveran. Unless you have some special reason that'd make it worth it (I was giving that car to its next owner) I wouldn't bother. Also, as the Souveran deteriorates I find it often leaves a little "dead wax" behind, and I'd rather just have the nice slick Collinite.

476s was hard for me to remove cause I lay it thin and let it sit in the sun for 30 mins. Hard to get off. Haven't tried the WOWO method

Using Collinite with the W-O-W-O method resulted in diminished durability for me. Still better than most other waxes, but not the usual Collinite durability by a noticeable margin.

Yeah, 845 is great for this. 476S usually works fine on black plastic trim too, and I've even used it on black *rubber* trim with good results.
