Collinite 845 IW not for dark colors?

Just as the title reads I was over on AG reading on their forums and someone mentioned that collinite 845 Insulator wax "is not intended for darker colored clear coat finishes (not sure why)." Is there any truth to this statement?
 
I haven't tried mine yet on my car, so I can't say. I've seen photos on here where others have used it on blacks, blues, and reds and they looked good to me. You can use it on any color.
 
SpoiledMan is right on. It isn't that it was made for light colors, it just has a brighter look to it. To be honest, I find P21S to have a similar effect on darks. At the end of the day, I'm fine with the 845 look as I use it as my winter protection. If you find you don't really car for the look it can always be topped.
 
I don't care for the bright look it gives to darker colors. If that doesn't bother you, it is an otherwise decent wax.
 
I will agree with the bright look thing as well. I usually prefer to put on 476 on my blacks but on metallics 845 IW is a beaut!
 
Having used it to a silver and to a black car I have to say that it is just fine to both just apply thin as in black it is very easy to streak.
 
That's interesting that you say that about Autogeeks website considering that is my BLACK Bonneville pictured on the IW845 page.



That said, I think it looks good. In fact, most people consider Nattys Blue to be one of the best for dark cars, and to me I really don't see any difference between the two on my car. But I'm not a daily detailer that sees all these waxes all the time either.
 
Always looked fine on black to me. Just go light on the application, or you will experience some light smearing/streaking.



FWIW 845 darkens the paint color itself, but the shine is still bright, if that makes any sense.

I did my wife's dark blue Honda and it looked fine, looked better after a few washes and topped with Souveran!
 
Yep, looks horrible on black :think:



Here's a huge secret--PREP is what determines look. Make black paint swirl-free, then put whatever you want on it, it *will* look great.

I was actually thinking posting a pic of that car and hopefully someone would know who the owner was. Do you think you could post some more pics!? :), also thank you everyone for your input.
