Collinite 845, black = muted? - considering round 2 w/topper or KAIO under

Huh, I get the psuedo-holograms with 476S, not 845 :think:



Besides putting it on thin, I'd make sure it's ready to pass the finger-swipe test before you buff it off.



Wonder if there's any chance that it's just having a bad reaction with something from the polishing step...polishing oils or somesuch.

Since this is a 845 thread...I will add my question here...



I use 845 quite a bit as a detailer. My problem is that when applying to darker cars...it appears that when I take it off, it looks like holograms on the car in places...mainly on the hood of all places.



I do not know if I am applying it too thick or allowing it not to dry all the way or allowing it to dry too long.



Some advice would be GREAT!

I had a similar issue...on silver! It turned out to be just leftover product from too thick of an application and took a bit of extra finesse to remove it. I think next time I will go the 845 in a spray bottle approach to keep it thinner. Maybe worth a shot for you to try?

An observation about all of the Collinite waxes from a long time fan. Collinite produces a beautiful smooth, slightly "soft" shine "but" there are other products which will match or outshine it. However, in just a few weeks or so (days in the case of NXT), you will have to reapply (most of) those other products in order to maintain that shine and protection. Not with Collinite, which will maintain its shine and protection long after the others have "crapped" out...even under the worst of weather conditions.



For those of us who actually enjoy detailing automobiles or those looking for a "show-car" shine there are other options. But in the real world, for those who have don't like it so much and need something that looks great and lasts a long long time, Collinite is the one...or certainly one of the ones.

Yeah, if you want max durability and protection from one coat, Collinite is tough to beat :xyxthumbs



I do sorta like the 845/476S/845 sandwich, which can help avoid the potential pseudo-holograms you can get if you try to "layer" 476s. The base coat of 845 makes it less likely that the 476S will leave a residue along pinstripes and/or in textured surfaces if you use a little too much, so I find it worth doing as it only takes a few minutes by machine.
