Collinite 476

Has anyone used it, and is it any good? Is it one of the more durable waxes. Up until tonight I had never heard of it. Any input would be much appreciated.

Do a Search @ Autopia. Heard its definitely more durable than #16 Meg's. Not the greatest look, but I just ordered it for those long trips and rims. Its their paste version of liquid insulator wax. Its better than their Marquis D'elegance since the MD version is more user approachable. I think its their Fleet Wax also. I will do a review when it gets in soon.

for durability probley the best carnuba wax on the market.Either mde or #476 or the liquid version #845 all last 3 months or more

oi812: I never heard of it either but here's their site to read up on it.

http://www.collinite.com/auto.htm

They (Collinite) claim their product(s) are detergent-proof which is a pretty incredible claim for any carnauba/polymer/acrylic product.

You probably need SSR1 or one of their products to remove a Collinite wax product.

NYV6Coupe,

Yeah I went to that website this morning and took a look. Do you think the NY or WI (actually the whole northern part of the country)winter would take care of it? If it is that good maybe I should rush an order in before winter. I'm just starting to prep my 3 vehicles at home for winter. Does anyone use it, and is it that good?

My review of Collinite 476S

9 oz metal can, paid $15.10

One vehicle I put it on had Klasse Sealer Glaze on and was a Light Bronzemist Metallic. One vehicle had Klasse Sealer Glaze with a coat of P21S and it is a Dark Teal Green Metallic. The last car was just washed, clayed, and polished with Menzerna Final Polish 2, and is black.

Applying on the first two the ambient temperature was below 70 degrees. It seemed like it took more effort to apply it on these because of the relatively cool temperature and because they already had a very slick final product already applied. The black car seemed to take the wax easier because it had just been polished and the ambient temperature was over 75 degrees. In both cases the wax was removed effortlessly. I did roughly two 2x2 panels going back to the first panel and removing. Basically letting it start to haze over before removing.

I think the finished result was very glassy looking on the two lighter cars. Very impressive. The black car is another story. The look was also a deep glassy and shiny look and looked very good in the shade. When I got it out under the sun I could see some spots that looked like swirl marks. A little spritzing with a QD’r seemed to clear it up. It reminded me of my faded memory of the old Simonize wax finish. I tried capturing the look with a camera, but it just didn’t show it. I wished I’d had time to apply a different wax to different panels so I’d have some better comparison. I don’t know that the swirls weren’t there after polishing, but I don’t think so. I used a PC to apply the FP2. The wax was applied by hand.

As a winter preservative I think it’s going to be just fine. For the summer season I think I’d rather use P21S or just the SG. I’ll reserve my final evaluation after seeing how it holds up over time.

:bigups Great review! My tin didn't come :( But I have my rims and the front of the car prepped for it when it arrives. Would you say its a "sleeper" wax that gives great results and isn't hard at all to apply?

I think I'd like to read a few more reviews like the review that sgo just posted before I'd buy a product I never heard of, especially when the mfg. is making some pretty outrageous claims like "detergent-proof".

It's winter time soon so I'm looking for durability rather than looks. Right now I'm probably going to go with 2x - 3x layers of SG (acrylic protection speaks to me) & perhaps top it with Collinite 476 ... not sure yet.

sgo: good review

woob: please post your thoughts when the product arrives

I agree NYV6Coupe 100%.
The one problem I have is, by the time I see enough reviews to make an informed decision the snow could be flying. It takes time to order it and have it shipped. I think you know what I'm talking about. If you hear anymore and it doesn't get posted on this thread, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks all.

I can give everyone a 1 week look at it once it comes in. But its a Winter Wax I hear. Do a search @ Autopia!

Thanks for the compliment.

I dunno about "great results." I'm satisfied with it on the non-black cars. I only applied #16 to one panel on my black MC and I think it left a better finish, but there are too many variables at play here for me to get a real good feel. I like the fact it doesn't dust (I forgot to mention that in my review) and it does seem to stain plastic molding although I tried not to get too much on it. I'm going to be surprised if it doesn't last long because it just doesn't come out of the foam applicator pad. It's not hard to apply. Like I said, I'm going to take a wait and see on this one.

I started using insulator wax on the cars and love it . I have used ex, ex-p, cmw, and sg prior to trying it. SG and IW are the only two products that I have had on my car and saw bird sh*t bead like water. I think that it looks fine and the protection is great.

It has also been around for while, a friend of mine used it in high school and that was 15 yrs ago.

Hmmm looks like a possible solution to those crazy beater cars I have. But when will it get to my house from Maltec? :angry

I chickened out on my black MC after my daughters black car for the 476S. I just put a coat of P21S on it last night. However, I'm not giving up on it just yet Someone else pointed me to this site http://www.mactecllc.com/collinite.asp and I ordered a bottle of the Insulator Wax for $14.25 and free shipping. I'll probably put that on before too long.
Thanks for the thread, NYV6COUP. That was what they told me too. I just couldn't remember the whole story.

The product speaks for itself.I never heard of any advertisements or anything else.Just word of mouth.I have been using it for 10 years and my friend longer if you buy it you will see what I mean.don't look for a amazing shine like TS or SOUVERN but a nice wet shine with TONS of durability.I don't use soap either (only when real dirty) just a hose and water nothing else needed

Looks like mactecllc.com is a better price than thebestwax.com 'cause they do free shipping.

good find
Actually it was horseman2475 over at Autopia that told me about mactecllc. I did a Google search and didn't see it, but subsequently went back and did it again and found it. I don't know how long it takes to get it though. I just ordered it this morning.

Ordered last Thursday and it hasn't reached my doors yet :( Better be here tomorrow!
That's not very encouraging since they're a lot closer to NC than they are to WA.
