Coke for cleaner?

I know Coke removes rust and such but I have a neighbor who use to work at a truck stop and said a lot of the diesel drivers would clean their engines with coke. Would this hold true for use on car engines? if so, that could be one cheap alternative to some APC's.

Yes, Coca Cola will clean grease off an engine to a degree, but as far as it being cost effective I don't think so. Plus you will leave behind a big surgary sticky mess X_X

You lost me, I was being sincere in my question. I iz sad now :(

Sorry, we just ended a contest where....oh never mind. I'm sorry if you took my 1st response wrong. Please forgive me

Welcome to TruthInDetailing. Hope to see you around :partaaay2:

Coke has been used for decades to clean stuff.
I know of a guy that cleans original rare tires in Coke.

I myself prefer to drink it versus clean with it.
Maybe I'll make a detailing t-shirt with a Coke bottle on it.

"COKE- It's not just for breakfast anymore" :driving:

Back in the early 60's I worked at a full service gas station with a fellow that used coke right out of the bottle to remove bugs off the windshield. Used it myself in the past on battery cables but the cleaning of engines is a new one to me.

I asked Uncle Joe, he said Coke and Jack Daniels. So, I asked my cousin Mikey - he said " uh, I don't snort that no more man" so being a Pepsi person, I concluded my investigation.
