CMA Pads separate after washing?

Finally got started using my PC today and the project is going well. I used a yellow CMA pad to apply 3M FC. Results are great. When a lot of paint (it's an old truck) had accumulated on the pad, I washed it with Dawn and it cleaned up fine.

When I put it back on the buffer, the white layed that holds the velcro separated from the pad.

Did I do something wrong when washing or is this normal?

Thanks

I washed my Meguiars polishing yellow pad with Palmolive dish soap warm water.

Still looking good.Probably you got a lemon.Call them and see if they can exchange for you.

I don't wash my pads. I press then into a towel to remove any excess product and put them in an unsealed plastic bag. Before reusing them I tap them a few times and rub them with a soft plastic brush to dislodge any loose product. I've got pads that are a couple years old and still working at peak efficiency. My pads are all dedicated to a single product. I don't apply wax or sealant with a PC. I prefer to do that by hand with a clean foam applicator. I've never had a pad separation in the 9 years that I've owned the PC.

I just washed a bunch of pads today by hand in a Dawn solution and spin dried them on the PC. The pads are about 1 year old. No issues at all. Sounds like you have defective pads.

My white/yellow CMA pads have been washed a lot by hand in Dawn .. no problems at all. I don't spin dry I use the *Drying Device* I made.

I used my PC the other day for the first time and I hand washed my pads with Woolite, then air dried them on the PC on highest setting.

Hey Jesstzn, what is your home made device if you want to reveal it.

rickindy- Yeah, you must've got a bad one. Call Terry at CMA and see if he can help you out.

Bill D, General Lee, et al- You guys who spin-dry your pads on the PC make me think :scared I finally quit doing it after a) I got tired of pads flying off and landing in abrasive [stuff] and b) I noticed that I had more velcro issues when I spun them dry. Of course, YMMV and since I've posted this you'll probably never have a problem :D

It works great with the smaller pads on the Cyclo, though.
