cloudy-like, blotchy spots on windows...help?

Hi, I usually have a solution for most detailing problems, but this one I can't figure out. This is the first time I've encountered this (it's a new used car for me).

There are marks on the exterior side of the glass that look like something similar to hard water stains. They are only visible if the outside of the windows slightly fogs, or if it is raining lightly and only at night time. It's most apparent when I used the window wipers and I'm directly beneath a yellow/orange street light. During the day, or when the glass is dry, the windows look flawless.

I've used Klasse on it but it hasn't seemed to clean it.

another small problem is the window wipers seemed to have created an outline along where they swipe. I have this case for all of my cars. So any area outside of the wiper's reach is slightly cloudy in comparision. any solutions?

both of these problems seem to be related to each other and might only need one solution...

thanks for any help.

It sounds like you need to polish your windows. There are several window polishes out there you could try. Also, Bon Ami cleanser works on window glass. #0000 steel wool with window cleaner could be worth a try. The front window wear is normal. I'll be trying Diamondite's windshield cleaner myself to see how well it handles that stuff.

very nice NHB, that's exactly how my windows look in the daytime..but when night falls and there is some moisture...i see lots of marks.

but i will definately try the #0000 steel wool...and i picked up some stoner's invisble glass at wal mart too. i'm confident i can take it off with the stuff i have now...vinegar...AIO, glass cleaner...etc etc. thanks for all the help!

When I've encountered this problem, here's how I tackle it:

1. claybar it

2. try AIO (first by hand, then with PC)

3. try Zaino Glass Polish (first by hand, then with PC)

4. try BonAmi with 0000 steelwool (first by hand, then with PC)

5. live with it

Just my $.02

sorry, can't just LIVE with it, #5. I could barely see anything in teh rain under street lights the last time it happened. You mean die with it, right?

i really had to open my windows and drive slower than the speed limit just to remotely see where i was going.

i used the 0000 steel wool with AIO, it worked, but not 100%. I may have to go and it it one more time.

I didn't intend to suggest that "live with it" is an equally-acceptable alternative, TurDz. My 1-2-3-4-5 steps were a succession that I follow. "Live with it" is only the sad accession when step #s 1,2,3, & 4 don't give me acceptable results. So far, I've always gottne good results from those earlier steps.
