I originally posted this in Autotopia University, but haven't gotten any response and thought I'd try here:
Total Newbie here. Have always detailed by hand and have been convinced that machining is safe, you get better results and more efficient. So I went ahead and bought PC DA and am still waiting for the various pads to arrive. In the meantime, here's my question:
I've got a 93 Mugello Red BMW M5. Overall the paint is in excellent condition. The paint is single stage with no clearcoat, however, the hood apparently was repainted (PO claims no knowledge
) and clearcoated. I found this out when I put a bra on her, got caught in a rain storm and when I took it off the following day (I know I should have taken it off immediately) there were three spots underneath that clouded - not awful and not large, but definitely visible.
I tried baking it in the sun - no to very minor improvement. I also tried 3M swirl remover by hand - nothing.
Is it possible to get this out with the DA? Does anyone have any experience that they can share? What products you would recommend? Or am I looking at having it repainted (again). Thanks in advance!
