Clearcoated Wheels Problem

As usual, I always wash the rims first before washing the car body. Then, I proceed to wipe dry the car body and finally the rims. I don't know why, my set of clearcoated wheels easily get etched by water spots. This problem doesn't happen on my car paint. I've tried using Scratch-X to remove the waterspot etch mark, but no improvements at all. I wonder could it be etched by the dirty water by the road side when I go over it?

Hey man do you have dogs and cats around your house? If so that could be your problem. Dogs like to urinate and cats like to spray on wheels. This can cause etching among other problems.

My house is a pets free zone. I do observe my car everyday. I'm abit annoyed with the water spots, worried that it'll become more and more...Perhaps when the time comes...I will upgrade to Enkei 15" rims [:)]

It may be possible that the water spots are damage done while on the car lot. Many times the lot cars are just rinsed and dried but the wheels are just left to dry el natural.
