my g/f got me some tail light tints for the stang's tail lights, but the left one has some clear coat over spray on it...i dont want to buff it off with light polish on a white pad because im afraid of inducing marring. what can i use to get the overspray off before i put the tint on?

I think anything that would remove overspray could possibly leave plastic looking dull or cloudy. No matter what route you go, you will probably need to polish. Search the forums for threads about headlight or taillight restoration and you can probably have the plastic looking better than new.

If the paint was not a lacquer-base, you could try using some goof-off to remove it.

I'd start with some Mineral Spirts and work your way up. Then, just buff/polish and their brand new again. Goof Off is a great product, but isn't the safest on *all* plastics. You should be fine on an 03 Mustang. If it starts to soften or melt anything, STOP IMMEDIATELY!
