Hello and welcome, South Africa !
That clear plastic is called a Clear Bra and you can polish it gently, but you need to be careful..
If the edges are big because the plastic is thick, sometimes its good to use 1/4" or 1/8" painters tape and tape the edges down carefully while using product, to help minimize it getting stuck underneath them and then you have to remove it..
Just try to always spread product from the front of the clear bra back toward the edge where it goes across the hood, fenders, etc., this helps in not pushing product under the edge..
It does not dissipate heat very well because it is plastic, so you have to be gentle, not much pressure, and very low speed if using a Rotary..
If not using a Rotary, you have to be even more careful because the D/A is rubbing on it and trying to rotate at the same time..
Depending on how damaged, scratched, etc., it is, it can be brought back a little better sometimes.
You can treat it like paint, but remember, its plastic, ok ?
You do not want to hurt it because the only thing that can be done then is to replace it..
I have polished hundreds of these with a Rotary and a mild pad and compound..
It will look better with whatever you apply to it, but it may not hold on to the product as long as clean, polished, and cleaned paintwork would..
Good Luck !
